PRAYERS.
The Lord President acquainted the House, "That Her Majesty had granted a Commission under the Great Seal of England, for the further proroguing of this Parliament."
(fn. 1) The Speaker took the Place as before.
Hereupon (the Lords Commissioners being in their Robes) the Lord President being set on a Form cross the House, between the Throne and the Woolsack, the Duke of Bolton and Earl of Bath on his Right Hand, and the Lord Chamberlain, Earl of Nottingham, and Earl of Monmouth, on his Left Hand, commanded the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod to give the House of Commons Notice of the said Commission; and to signify to them, "That the Lords desire that they would be present, to hear the said Commission read."
Who being come, with their Speaker; the Commission was read, as followeth:

Vicesimo Die Martii ult. præterit. inchoari et teneri ordinaverimus; a quo Die idem Parliamentum Nostrum usque ad et in Vicesimum Tertium Diem Maii tunc prox. sequen. continuatum fuerat; eodemque Die idem Parliamentum Nostrum usque ad et in Septimum Diem instantis Julii adjournatum fuerat, et abinde ad et in Vicesimum Octavum Diem ejusdem Julii prorogatum fuerat, apud Civitatem Nostram Westm. prædictam, ibidem tunc tenendum et prosequendum: Sciatis tamen, quod, certis urgentibus Causis et Considerationibus Nos specialiter moventibus, idem Parliamentum Nostrum prorogandum duximus. De Fidelitate igitur, Prudentia, et Circumspectionibus vestris plurimum confidentes, assignavimus vos Commissionarios Nostros; dantes vobis, et aliquibus Quinque vel pluribus vestrum, Tenore Præsentium, plenam Auctoritatem et Potestatem, hoc instante Die Lunæ, præsens Parliamentum Nostrum, Nomine Nostro, ad et in Decimum Octavum Diem Augusti prox. futur. usque prædictam Civitatem Nostram Westm. prorogandum et continuandum, ibidemque tunc tenendum et prosequendum; et ideo vobis mandamus, quod circa Præmiffa diligenter intendatis, ac ea in Forma prædicta effectualiter expleatis. Damus autem universis et singulis Archiepiscopis, Ducibus, Marchionibus, Comitibus, Vicecomitibus, Episcopis, Baronibus, Militibus, Civibus, et Burgensibus, ac omnibus aliis quorum interest ad dictum Parliamentum Nostrum conventuris, Tenore Præsentium, firmiter in Mandatis, quod vobis in Præmiffis faciendis, agendis, et exequendis, pareant, obediant, et intendant, prout decet. In cujus Rei Testimonium, has Literas Nostras fieri fecimus Patentes.

Then the Lord President said,
Parliament prorogued.
"My Lords and Gentlemen,
"By Virtue of Her Majesty's Commission now read, and to us directed, we do prorogue this Parliament to Monday the Eighteenth Day of August next: And this Parliament is prorogued to Monday the 18th Day of August next."
