Rights of the Subject, and Succession of the Crown, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for declaring the Rights and Liberties of the Subject, and settling the Succession of the Crown."

Bradshaw versus Northend.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir James Bradshaw; praying, "That his Cause, which was appointed to be heard on Monday next, may be put off to a further Day:"

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel on both Sides, on Saturday next, being the 18th Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; whereof the said Sir James Bradshawe is to cause timely Notice to be given to the Defendant, by the Service of this Order upon him, to the End he attend with his Counsel accordingly.

Lampen versus Clobery.

Upon reading the Petition and Appeal of Ezechiell Lampen, Executor and Residuary Legatee of William Clobery deceased, complaining of a Decree obtained against him, on the Behalf of Oliver Clobery, wherein he is decreed to pay the Arrears and growing Interest of Five Hundred Pounds Half-yearly; and to give Security in Chancery, by Recognizance, to continue the Payment thereof; which Decree was, on or about the 15th Day of November, 1677, confirmed, and since signed and enrolled; and praying the Reversal of the said Decree, and other Things in the Petition set forth:

It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Oliver Clobery may have a Copy of the said Petition and Appeal; and be, and is hereby, required to put in his Answer thereunto, in Writing, on Tuesday the 28th of May Instant, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon; and that in the mean Time all Proceedings on the said Decree and Recognizance be stayed; whereof the said Ezechiel Lampen is to cause timely Notice to be given to the said Oliver Clobery, to the End he may answer accordingly.

Commissioners of the Great Seal, Bill.

ORDERED, That this House will proceed to read the Amendments to the Bill, intituled, "An Act for enabling the Commissioners of the Great Seal to execute the Office of the Lord Chancellor or Lord Keeper," on Monday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

E. of Salisbury, longer Time for bringing over his Brothers.

The House being moved, on the Behalf of the Earl of Salisbury, now Prisoner in The Tower, who, by Order of the Third of April last past, was to cause his Brothers William and Charles (now beyond the Seas) to be returned to the Countess of Burlington before the 15th Instant;' and that, in order thereunto, he sent a Person to fetch them, who fell sick at Dover, and did not recover till the 30th of April last, and then his Pass was out; and desiring some longer Time may be allowed for bringing over his said Brothers, which he promises to do with all Speed:

It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Earl of Salisbury hath hereby further Time until Saturday the First of June next; and the House expects this Order to be punctually observed, or otherwise this House will further proceed against his Lordship as the Offence requires.

The House was adjourned during Pleasure; and many of the Lords attended His Majesty, in the Prince's Lodgings.

King present.

After a while, the King ascended His Royal Throne, adorned with His Crown and Regal Robes and Ornaments.

His Majesty gave Command to the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, to signify His Pleasure to the Commons, "That they attend Him presently."

Who being come, with their Speaker; His Majesty gave His Royal Assent to these Bills; the Titles were read by the Clerk of the Crown; (videlicet),

Bills passed.

"1. An Act for the better securing the Government, by disarming Papists and reputed Papists."

"2. An Act for rectifying a Mistake in a certain Act in this present Parliament, for the amoving Papists from the Cities of London and Westminster."

"3. An Act, That the Simoniacal Promotion of one Person may not prejudice another."

To these the Royal Assent was pronounced, by the Clerk of the Parliament, in these Words,

"Le Roy et la Reyne le veulent."

"4. An Act for the Naturalization of Henry de Nassau and others."

"5. An Act for the annulling and making void the Attainder of Algernoone Sydney Esquire."

To these the Royal Assent was pronounced in these Words,

"Soit fait come il est desire."

Council held in the Prince's Chamber.

This being done, His Majesty retired into the Prince's Lodgings, and held a Council.

D. Somerset, Speaker pro Tempore.

After a while, the House made Choice of the Duke of Somerset for their Speaker pro Tempore.

The House was resumed.

Judges to attend, about Oates's Judgement.

ORDERED, That Sir Richard Holloway and Sir Francis Withens be, and are hereby, required to attend this House, to give their Reasons or Grounds for their Judgement given against Tytus Otes, on Monday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Adjourn.
