PRAYERS.

Sir Ed. Carteret, Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod.

The Lord Chamberlain (in the Absence of the Lord Great Chamberlain) acquainted this House, "That His Majesty hath appointed another Person (videlicet Sir Edward Carteret) to be Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, and to attend this House, in the Place of Sir John Ayton; and that he is at the Door, ready to receive their Lordships Commands."

Whereupon the House directed that he should come in:

And accordingly he came in, and officiated in his said Place.

Sir Philip Howard's and Watson's Bill.

The Earl of Dorset reported, "That the Committee have considered the Bill for granting to Sir Phillip Howard and Francis Watson Esquire the sole Use of a Manufacture, Art, or Invention, for the Benefit of Shipping; wherein their Lordships have made some Alterations."

Which being read Twice and debated, it is ORDERED, That the said Bill is re-committed: And the Committee is appointed to meet To-morrow Morning, at Nine of the Clock; the Earl of Essex, Vicecomes Fauconberg, Lord Eure, Lord Widdrington, Lord Lucas, and Lord Gerrard; being added to the said Committee.

Bill against maiming and wounding.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act to prevent malicious maiming and wounding."

ORDERED, That this Bill shall be committed.

Next, the Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall be referred to a Committee of the whole House?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

ORDERED, That this Bill shall be taken into Consideration, by the Committee of the whole House, on Wednesday Morning next.

Indictments to be laid before the House, against Persons for maiming Sir J. Coventry.

ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Clerk of the Peace of the City and Liberty of Westm'r, or such other Person in whose Custody the several Bills of Indictments lately found by the Grand Jury of the said City of Liberty, whereby Sir Thomas Sandys Knight, Charles Obrian Esquire, Symon Parry, and Miles Reeves, among others, stand indicted of Felony and Robbery, for assaulting and wounding Sir John Coventry Knight of the Honourable Order of the Bath, and robbing him and his Servant William Wicks, on the 21th Day of December last, are now kept, be, and is hereby, required to bring the said Bills of Indictment to this House on Wednesday the 18th Day of this Instant January, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon.

Bishops of Bangor and St. Asaph, Lead Mines Bill.

ORDERED, That the Bill to enable Rob't Lord Bishop of Bangor and Isaac Lord Bishop of St. Asaph to let, for Lives or Years, all Lead Mines in their Soil, shall be read the Second Time To-morrow Morning.
