December 1611

Dec. 18.
London.
John Chamberlain to Sir Dudley Carleton. Newport, the Admiral of Virginia, newly come home, brings word of the arrival there of Sir Thos Gates and his company. Lady Gates died by the way in some part of the West Indies. Her daughter sent home again, a prognostication that Sir Thos. means not to tarry long after. [Extract from DOMESTIC Corresp. Jac I., Vol. LXVII., No. 104, Cal. p. 101.]
