The Lord Marquis of Halifax reported from the Committee, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to vest in Trustees certain Lands of Sir Gervase Clifton Baronet, in the County of Nottingham, for Payment of Debts, and raising Portions for Younger Children," as fit to pass, with some Amendments.
Which were read Twice, and agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.
Brooke's Bill.
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the vesting the Manor of Madely, and other Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, in the County of Salop, the Estate of Basill Brooke Esquire, in Trustees, for raising Monies, for the Payment of Debts, and for securing his Wife's Jointure."
Rogers's Bill.
The Earl of Bridgewater reported from the Committee, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Jane Rogers, the Widow and Relict of Bryan Rogers, late of Falmouth, Merchant, deceased, and Administratrix of his Goods and Chattels, with his Will annexed, and other Trustees therein named, to sell Lands, for the Payment of Debts and Legacies of the said Bryan Rogers, in Performance of his said Will," as fit to pass, with some Amendments.
Which, being read Twice, were agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendments.
Commissioners of Admiralty deliver Papers:
The Commissioners of the Admiralty attending (pursuant to an Order of the One and Thirtieth of January last) were called in; and delivered, at the Bar, what Papers they had prepared; and gave the House an Account, "That they were preparing others, concerning the Cruizers."
To send a List of the Fleet in The Mediterranean, and of the whole Navy.
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Commissioners of the Admiralty do lay before this House, on Thursday next, at Ten of the Clock in the Forenoon, a List of the Fleet that went into The Mediterranean, and to what Time they were victualled; as also a List of the whole Navy of England.
Commissioners of Transports, deliver Papers.
The Commissioners of the Transports attending (pursuant to an Order of the One and Thirtieth of January last) were called in; and delivered, at the Bar, the Papers, according to the said Order.
Apothecaries, Bill to exempt from Parish Offices, &c.
After hearing Counsel this Day, for and against the Bill, intituled, "An Act for exempting Apothecaries from serving the Offices of Constable, Scavenger, and other Parish and Ward Offices, and from serving upon Juries:"
Then, Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for exempting Apothecaries from serving the Offices of Constable, Scavenger, and other Parish and Ward Offices, and from serving upon Juries."
ORDERED, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following; (videlicet,)
Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Thursday next, at Nine of the Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.
Evans discharged;
Upon reading the Petition of James Evans, in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, for dispersing a Paper, reflecting on this House; shewing his hearty Sorrow for the same, and humbly begging Pardon for his Offence:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said James Evans shall be, and he is hereby, discharged from the Restraint he lies under (paying his Fees); and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.
To the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, his Deputy and Deputies, and every of them.
Upon examining James Evans, at the Bar, upon Oath, in relation to Sir William Williams, approving of the Case of Edw'd Williams; for publishing of which, James Evans was committed:
After Debate thereupon,
This Question was proposed, "Whether Sir William "Williams shall be now taken into Custody?"
Then this previous Question was put, "Whether this Question shall be now put?"
It was Resolved in the Negative.
and to produce the original Draught of Williams's Case.
After hearing this Day, at the Bar, James Evans upon Oath, concerning the drawing and publishing of a Paper, intituled, "The Case of Edward Williams," reflecting on this House:
It is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said James Evans do lay before this House, To-morrow, at Eleven of the Clock, the original Draught of that Paper which was corrected by Sir Wm. Williams.
