Geery's Bill.
The Earl of Dorset reported, "That the Committee for the Bill for settling certain Lands belonging to William Geery hath considered the said Bill, and have heard all Persons therein concerned, and have made some Amendments therein, with which they are of Opinion, That the said Bill be engrossed."
The said Amendments were read Twice, and Agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed accordingly.
Protestant Foreigners Bill.
Hodie 3a vice lecta est Billa, "An Act for the empowering and licensing of Protestant Foreigners to set up, for the Increase and Benefit of Trade."
The Question being put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"
It was Resolved in the Affirmative.
Message to H. C. with it; and that the Lords have passed the Allhallows North'ton Bill.
A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Myles Cooke and Sir John Francklyn:
To deliver to them (fn. 2) the Bill concerning Protestant Strangers, and desire their Concurrence to the same.
2. To acquaint them, that the Lords have passed the Bill for settling the Maintenance for the Vicar of Allhallowes, in the Town of North'ton.
Bill for better Observation of the Sabbath.
The House was adjourned into a Committee, to proceed in the Bill for the better Observation of the Lord's-day.

Message from H. C. with the Bill to naturalize Englishmen's Children born abroad.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Gilbert Gerard and others:
To return the Bill for naturalizing the Children of His Majesty's English Subjects born in Foreign Countries during the late Troubles; and to let their Lordships know, that they do acquiesce for leaving out the Proviso in the Bill upon the Reasons given by their Lordships at the last Conference.

Whereas John Campion and Dutton Seymour were this Day brought to the Bar, as Delinquents, for speaking contemptuous Words against the Earl of North'ton, a Peer of this Realm, and Constable of His Majesty's Tower of London:
Upon hearing what they had to alledge for themselves, it is ORDERED, That the said John Campion shall attend the Earl of North'ton, to ask his Lordship's Pardon: And it is further ORDERED, That the said John Campion and Dutton Seymour be, and are hereby, discharged from their present Restraint, paying their Fees: And this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.
To the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod attending this House, his Deputy and Deputies.
Messenger versus Taunt, in Error.
Upon reading the Petition of Marke Taunt; shewing, That having obtained a Judgement in his Majesty's Court of King's Bench, against one John Messenger, which hath been affirmed in the Exchequer Chamber, since which the said John Messenger hath brought another Writ of Error returnable in Parliament, but doth refuse to have the Record certified; and therefore prayeth, That (fn. 3) a Day be appointed for that Purpose, or that he the said Marke Taunt may have the Benefit of his said Judgement:"
It is thereupon ORDERED, That the said John Messenger be, and is hereby, required to cause the said Writ of Error, and the Record wherein Judgement is entered for the said Marke Taunt, to be brought into this House on Thursday the Twelfth Instant; or otherwise that the said Marke Taunt may proceed in the Courts below, as if no such Writ of Error had been awarded.
Darrell versus Whitchcot.
Upon reading the Petition of Marmaduke Darrell Esquire, this Day; praying, "That this House would be pleased to appoint some short Day, to compleat the Judgement given on his Behalf on the 23th Day of February, 1673, in a Cause depending between him and Sir Jeremy Whitchcot, concerning One Fifth Part of a Farm of the (fn. 4) Impost or Duty arising out of Sea-coals at Newcastle upon Tyne:"
It is ORDERED, That Sir Jeremy Whitchcot may have a Copy of the said Petition, to which he is hereby required to put in an Answer, to be lodged in the Hands of the Clerk of the Parliaments, before the End of Easter Weeke: And it is further ORDERED, That this House will hear Counsel on both Parts at the Bar thereupon, on the First Tuesday of the Sitting of the Parliament next after Easter Weeke.
E. of Burlington's Privilege.
Order for the Sheriffs of Midd. &c. to assist the Serjeant at Arms in seizing Hudswell & al. who were rescused from his Deputies.
Whereas, by Order of this House, dated the Sixth Instant, the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, or his Deputies, were authorized and required to attach the Bodies of William Hudswell, Roger Bowden, and Drury Deane, for driving away, impounding, and detaining, the Cattle of Henry Foote, Daniell Wall, and John Wall, Tenants to the Earl of Burlington, a Peer of this Realm, being in the quiet Possession of Herald's Parke (sitting the Parliament, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament), and bring them in safe Custody to the Bar of this House:
Upon Information given this Day to this House, by the Oaths of Frederick Dover and Arthur Harris, Deputies to Sir George Charnock Serjeant at Arms, on this Behalf, "That, in Pursuance of the said Order, they repaired to Waltham Abbey, where the said William Hudswell, Roger Bowden, and Drury Deane were, and there attached the Body of the said William Hudswell, who was soon after rescued from them by about Twenty Persons in his Company, armed with Clubs and Pitchforks, with which they run at and beat the said Serjeant's Deputies, who also shewed their Order to Roger Bowden and Drury Deane, being within the House, and required their Obedience thereunto, which was refused; and the said Deputies were forced out of the House by the said armed Men; and when the said Deputies again required their Obedience to the said Order, one John Robinson and one James Wastell uttered very contemptuous Words against the Authority of this High Court, and, together with the armed Men aforesaid, forced away the said Deputies, who were overpowered by them:"
After due Consideration had thereof, it is ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, or his Deputies thereunto appointed, taking to their Assistance the respective Sheriffs of Midd. Essex, and Hertfordshire, or any of them (as Occasion shall require), with such Force and Aid as they can legally raise, which the said respective Sheriffs, and every of them, are hereby required to give to the full Execution of this Order, shall forthwith attach the Bodies of the said William Hudswell, Roger Bowden, Drury Deane, John Robinson, and James Wastell, and bring them in safe Custody to the Bar of this House, for their said Offences and Contempts of this High Court; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that Behalf.
To Sir George Charnock Knight, Serjeant at Arms attending this House, his Deputy and Deputies; and to all Sheriffs, Mayors, Bailiffs, Constables, and other His Majesty's Officers and Ministers, to be aiding and assisting in the Execution hereof.
The Lord Colepeper is added to be One of the Referees between the Lord Leigh and his Lady; and is added to the Committee for the Lady Mary Mordant's Bill.
Bill for better Observation of the Sabbath.
The House was again adjourned into a Committee, to consider of the Bill concerning the better Observation of the Lord's-day.
The House was resumed.
The Lord Bishop of Rochester reported, "That the Committee hath proceeded in the said Bill, but have many Clauses further to consider; therefore they desire the House would appoint another Time, when the Committee shall meet again."
And the House ordered Wednesday Morning for that Purpose.
