That the like Order shall be made for Essex, Kent, and Surrey, as was made for the County of Midd', concerning the Payment of the Poll-money into the Chamber at London:

That, out of those Monies that the Commissioners shall receive, they shall pay the Collectors and the Commissioners Clerks.

Arrears due to Scotland.

That some Gentlemen of this House may draw an Act of Parliament, that may secure the Monies promised to be paid unto the Scotts, upon the Publick Faith.

Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Whitlocke, Mr. Selden, Sir Tho. Widdrington, are to prepare a Bill for that Purpose.

Conference desired by Lords.

A Message from the Lords, by J. Reeve and J. Mallet;

The Lords desire a present Conference, by a Committee of both Houses presently, in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House.

Answer returned, by the same Messengers; that this House has taken their Lordships Message into Consideration; and will return an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Mr. Pym went up to the Lords with this Message;

Refused.

Whereas this House has received a Message from their Lordships, for a present Conference, without any Expression of the Subject or Matter of that Conference; which is contrary to the constant Course of either House: And therefore, this House cannot yield to a present Conference.

Remonstrances on State of the Kingdom, &c.

That the Committee for the Remonstrance of the State of the Kingdom and the Church may be ordered to bring in those Remonstrances.

Conference.

A Committee to prepare Heads for a Conference, to be desired with the Lords, concerning the Securing the Islands, Forts, *

The Protestation.

A Message from the Lords, by J. Reeve and J. Foster;

To desire a present Conference, by a Committee of both Houses, touching a printed Paper, concerning the Protestation, presently, in the Painted Chamber, if it may stand with the Conveniency of this House.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; that this House has taken their Lordships Message into Consideration; and will give a present Meeting, as is desired.

Sir Gilbert Gerrard, Mr. Martin, Mr. Strode, Mr. Pym, Sir John Evelyn, Mr. Hollis, Sir Walter Erle, Mr. Glyn, are appointed Reporters of this Conference.

Mr. Pym reports the Conference:

"Lord Privy Seal declared, that their Lordships desire a good Correspondency. -They proposed a Paper printed; and another Paper, containing these two Questions following:

"1. Whether this Paper that is printed, touching the Protestatioe, be the Votes of the House of Commons;"

"2. And whether it was printed by their Commands, as is expressed in the Paper."

To acquaint the Lords, that the House desires all good Correspondency;

That they have examined the Vote with the Clerk's Book; and it agreeth with the Book: And do avow the same:

That they gave Order to have it printed; and that the Clerk should attest it under his Hand.

Ordered, That Sir Gilbert Gerrard shall go to the Lords, To-morrow Morning, with this Message; to desire a Conference with their Lordships, so soon as may stand with their Lordships Conveniency, concerning the Matter of this last Conference, touching the printed Paper concerning the Protestation.

Mr. Hollis, Mr. Pym, Sir John Colpepper, Mr. Glyn, are to manage this Conference; and to deliver the Answers of this House to the Questions.

Impeachment of the Bishops.

That the Committee for the B * * * * of Impeachment of the Bishops sit this Afternoon

Abolishing Episcopacy.

That the Grand Committee sit this Afternoon, at Three of Clock, to proceed with the Bill concerning Episcopacy: And the Serjeant is to give Notice to Mr. Hide of this Order.

Message to Lords.

Ordered, That a Message shall be sent to the Lords, To-morrow Morning, to desire, that the Committee for the Ten Propositions may meet.

Business to be considered.

Ordered, That his Majesty's Answer to the Third Head of the Ten Propositions, shall be taken into Consideration on Wednesday Morning next: And that, at the same time, the House take into further Consideration the Articles against Mr. Piercy, Mr. Jermyn, &c.; and what Title to give to those Articles.

Archbp. of Canterbury.

Ordered, That Four of the Lord of Canterbury's Committee may have Leave to attend the Examinations of some Persons, in that Business.

Mr. Creswell has Leave to be examined as a Witness, before the Lords.

Committees.

Ordered, That, till the Grand Committee shall sit, all other Committees, that are appointed for this Day, may sit: But, when the Grand Committee shall sit, all other Committees whatsoever are peremptorily ordered not to sit, except it be some Four of the Lord of Canterburye's Committee, that are appointed to attend some Examinations in that Cause.
