Ecclesiastical Proceedings.

1. Reading : - The Bill for the better direction of Ecclesiastical Proceedings: - A. new Bill drawn by the Committee for the Execution of Ecclesiastical Government; and the old Bill to sleep.

Davison's Clerkship.

Sir Francis Hastings bringeth in from the Committee, the Bill for the Assurance of the Clerkship of the Treasury, and Warrants to Wm. Davison Esquire, &c. with Amendments; which being twice read, the Bill ordered to be ingrossed.

Usury.

A new Bill, intituled An Act to enlarge the Statutes now in force against Usury : - By Sir Edw. Grevill: - Prayeth reading; but was deferred.

Ly. Verney's Jointure.

2. Reading: - B. For Explanation of an Act had and made 39 Eliz. intituled, An Act for Confirmation of the Jointure of the Lady Verney, Wife of Sir Edmund Verney Knight. -

Counsel heard: Mr. Wincall, for the Plaintiff.

Mr. Randall Carewe, for the Lady Verney.

Witnessed by former Committees, in 39o, that Sir Edmond Verney did follow the Bill himself, and laboured divers Friends in it.

After much Dispute, and Argument, upon the Quest, rejected. -

The Overthrow of many Purchasers, Sixty at least, if an old Deed were set on Foot, mentioned in the Bill; the Cause of Rejection.
