Simony.

1. Reading: - B. FOR the better Discovery and Suppressing of Simony, &c. Eight a Clock in the Morning.

Rumour of the King being killed.

This Hour there was a general Brute, that the King was slain in his Bed at Oking; and thereupon all Bills Reading stayed: The News uncertainly brought by divers; but it did prove false.

The Rumour grew from the Constable of Kenienton, first, that said, he had Warrant to warn Men to be in Arms.

Recusants.

Sir Edwyn Sandys remembereth a Project offered by him before, to the Bishop of Canterbury; that the Recusants may be avoided from London, and Twenty Miles from it, during this Session of Parliament. -

To advise with the Lords for a present Care to put this in Execution.

The House approved it.

Members sent to the King.

Sir Rob. Oxenbridge moveth, that some select Gentlemen might go from this House, to understand of the King's Health.

Sir Maurice Berkley, Sir Rob. Needham, and Sir Rob. Oxenbridge, sent from the House to see the King, and to understand the Truth of the Report.

Some Attempt there was made ; but, upon the Rising of the House, the Certainty was not known.

Leave of Absence.

Sir Antho. Rowse, for very special Occasions of his own private, and of the King's Service, in the Country, is licensed by the House to depart.
