Ease of Clergy.

Commutation of Penance.

2^a vice lecta, An Act concerning the Disposing of Money, received for Commutation of Penance; upon Question, committed to the same Committee of the Bill for Administrations: And all the Merchants of the House to be added to the Committee.

Bishop's Petition.

The Petition of Sir Edward Bishop, Knight and Baronet, referred to this Committee following, viz.

Barrington, Sir Hugh 0Cholmeley, Mr. Holborne, Sir Capell Bedle, Sir Ri. Buller, Mr. Windebank, Sir Fr. Seymour, Sir Arth. Haslerick, Ld. Falkland, Sir Jo. Wray, Ld. Dungarvon:

This Committee is to take into Consideration the Petition of Sir Edward Bishopp, Knight and Baronet, and all other Petitions, upon Second Elections; and have Power to send for, and to hear, Witnesses, Parties, or other Evidences; and have Power to hear Counsel; and are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Court of Wards.

Conference with Lords.

Mr. Jones reported the Conference Yesterday had with the Lords, by a Committee of both Houses, in hæc verba; viz. His Lordship began thus:

Message from the King for Supply.

Mr. Treasurer brings a Message from his Majesty; which he read in hæc verba;

That his Majesty hath divers times, and by sundry ways, acquainted this House with the urgent Neccessity of Supply, and with the great Danger inevitably to fall upon the whole State, upon his own Honour, and the Honour of this Nation, if more Time shall be lost therein:

That nevertheless his Majesty hitherto hath received no Answer at all; and therefore considering, that as heretofore his Majesty hath told this House, that a Delay of his Supply is as destructive as a Denial, his Majesty doth again desire them to give him a present Answer concerning his Supply; his Majesty being still resolved, on his Part, to make good whatsoever he hath promised by himself, or the Lord Keeper.

Privileges.

It is this Day ordered, That the Committee, formerly appointed for preparing and giving Directions for managing the Business of the Conference to be had with the Lords, shall take into Consideration the Privileges mentioned in the last Conference with the Lords; and shall view such Records as may any way concern the same; and to present the same to the Judgment of this House, to consider what Course to take, for the Preservation of the same Privileges.

King's Message considered.

The House to be resolved into a Committee, to take into Consideration the King's present Message.

Upon Question, Mr. Lentall to have the Chair at this Committee.

Mr. Speaker reassumed the Chair.

Upon Mr. Lentall's Report from the Committee, it was Resolved, upon the Question, that for the Difficulty of the Matter debated, there shall be further time granted to the Committee till Monday Morning Eight of Clock, unless the King's Counsel shall then offer themselves, according to former Order, to debate the Matter of Shipmoney.

That Mr. Treasurer, Mr. Comptroller, Mr. Secretary Windebank, be intreated from this House, to acquaint his Majesty with the Order of this House.
