Prayers.

The Chaplain.

Resolved, That an humble Address be presented to his Majesty, by such Members of this House as are of his Majesty's most honourable Privy Council, That he will please to bestow some Preferment in the Church upon Mr. Barton, Chaplain to this House.

Highway Laws.

An ingrossed Bill for the better Explanation of an Act, of the Two-and-twentieth Year of King Charles the Second, for better Repairing of Highways, was read the Third time.

Several Amendments were proposed to be made to the Bill; viz.

Pr. 2. L. 1, to leave out "Now therefore:"

And the same were, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House; and the Bill amended at the Table accordingly.

An ingrossed Clause was offered, as a Rider, with Blanks, That * * * *

And the same was twice read; and the Blanks filled up:

And the Question being put, That the Clause be read the Third time;

It passed in the Negative.

Another ingrossed Clause was offered, as a Rider, For drawing with One single Horse, before the rest of the Team:

And the same was once read:

And the Question being put, That the Clause be read a Second time;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for the better amending and repairing the Highways, and Explanation of the Laws relating thereunto.

Ordered, That Sir Henry Hobart do carry the Bill to the Lords, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Irish Arrears.

Ordered, That Mr. Fuller, Mr. Howard, Mr. Blofeild, Mr. Harrison, Sir Wm. Quintin, Mr. Ashley, be added to the Committee, to whom the Consideration of the Petition of Nath. Hill, and others, is referred.

Linen Manufacture.

Mr. Molesworth reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for encouraging the Linen Manufacture of Ireland; and the bringing in Flax and Hemp; was committed; That they had made some Amendments thereunto; which they had directed him to report to the House; and which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments be ingrossed.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir William Blacket have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Mr. Blofeild have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Irish Arrears.

Ordered, That the Report touching the Matter of the Petition of Nathaniel Hill, and others, be made Tomorrow Morning.

Supply Bill Salt Duties and Land Bank.

Ordered, That the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill for continuing to his Majesty certain Rates and Duties upon Salt, for carrying on the War against France; and for taking off the Duties of Tonage upon Ships, and upon Coals; and for establishing a National Land-Bank; have Power to receive a Clause of Appropriation for the Army and Navy.

Ditto.

Then the House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the said Bill.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had gone through the Bill, and made several Amendments; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same.

Ordered, That the said Report be made To-morrow Morning.

Supply Bill; Post Office.

Resolved, That this House will, To-morrow Morning, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Bill for supplying several Defects in the Act for erecting and establishing a Post-Office.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
