Whitchcot's Estate.

AN ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act to enable Sir Paul Whitchcot Knight and Baronet, and Dame Jane his Wife, to make Leases, for Ninetynine Years, of the Manors of Tooting Graveney; and any of their Messuages, Lands, and Hereditaments, in Tooting-Gravenay, Tooting-Beak, and Stretham, in the County of Surrey; was read a Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Mr. Machell, Sir Sam. Barnardiston, Mr. Bowyer, Colonel Granville, Sir Cha. Raleigh, Mr. Kendall, Mr. Stonehouse, Sir Ra. Dutton, Mr. Pendarvis, Mr. Dryden, Mr. Lutterell, Mr. Mawdit, Mr. Fleming, Sir Matth. Andrews, Mr. Burdet, Sir John Fagg, Mr. Hobby, Mr. Bale, Mr. Waller, Mr. Brockman, Mr. Cook, Mr. Pigot, Mr. Christy, Mr. Fuller, Mr. Clark, Sir John Wynn, Sir Fra. Massam, Mr. Beak, Sir Robert Cotton; and all the Members that serve for the County of Surrey: And they are to meet To-morrow in the Afternoon at Five a Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Earl of Rochester's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the dividing and settling the Estate of the Co-heirs of John late Earl of Rochester, deceased; and for discharging the Trusts thereupon; was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass.

Ordered, That Colonel Granvill do carry the Bill to the Lords, and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the same, with an Amendment: To which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Northleigh's Estate.

Mr. Bale reported from the Committee, to whom the ingrossed Bill, from the Lords, intituled, An Act to enable Trustees to grant Leases of the Lands of Henry Northleigh Esquire, lately deceased, for Payment of his Debts, and providing a Maintenance for his younger Children, was committed, That they had considered the same; and had, according to Order, examined into the Debts of Mr. Northleigh; an Account of which they had directed him to report to the House; and also the Bill, without any Amendments: And he read the said Account in his Place; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same was read; and is as followeth; viz.

That Mr. Northleigh, at his Death, was indebted to Mr. Stephen Toller in 2,000l. Principal Money, by Two Bonds dated in 1688; and that no Interest has been paid for the same since the Money was lent: That Mr. Northleigh's personal Estate, as it was valued and appraised after his Death, amounted but to 1,200l.

That the Funeral Charges of Mr. Northleigh amounted to above 400l. which reduced his Personal Estate to 800l.; so that there remains but 800l. of his Personal Estate to pay the said Debt of 2,000l. and Interest for Six Years: And the said 800l. if applied towards Payment of the said Debt, will but sink the same to 1,800l.; which will remain a Charge upon the real Estate of Mr. Northleigh.

Ordered, That the said Report do lie upon the Table until the Bill be read the Third time.

Plantation Trade.

Ordered, That the Bill for the better securing the Plantation-Trade; and preventing the Shipping of Tobacco in Bulk; be read a Second time to-morrow Morning.

Barkham's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the vesting the Manors of Earles Croome, alias Jefferies Croome, and Baughton, in the County of Worcester, in Trustees, to be sold; and for settling the Manor-house and Royalty of Waynfleet St. Mary's, in the County of Lincoln, and divers Lands, Parcel of the said Manor, of greater Value, to and upon the same Uses; and to enable Sir Robert Barkham Baronet to make Provision for his younger Children; was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass.

Ordered, That the Lord Pawlett do carry the Bill to the Lords, and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the same, with some Amendments: To which they desire their Lordships Concurrence.

Supply Bill; Duties on Glass, &c.

Mr. Solicitor-General presented to the House, according to Order, a Bill for granting to his Majesty certain Duties upon Glass Wares, Stone and Earthen Bottles, Coals, and Culm, for carrying on the War against France: And the same was received.

The Bill was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time Tomorrow Morning.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Sir William Whitmore have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Mr. Ambrose Manaton have Leave to go into the Country for Three Weeks, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Mr. Serjeant Thurborne have Leave to go into the Country for Three Weeks, for Recovery of his Health.

Privilege of a Member in a Suit.

A Complaint being made to this House, That Mr. James Thorpe, and Mr. Robert Thorpe, have lately delivered Declarations in Ejectment for an Estate in the County of Tipperary, in the Kingdom of Ireland, in the Possession of the Right Honourable Thomas Wharton Esquire, Comptroller of his Majesty's Houshold, and a Member of this House; and that Mr. Allan Broderick had moved the Court there against allowing the Privilege of the said Mr. Wharton, in Breach of the Privileges of this House;

Ordered, That the said Mr. James Thorpe, Mr. Robert Thorpe, and Mr. Allan Broderick, be summoned to attend this House, to answer the said Complaint of Breach of Privilege: And that all Proceedings in the said Suit be in the mean time stayed.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Langton have Leave to go into the Country, for Recovery of his Health.

Ordered, That Sir Robert Jenkinson have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Ordered, That Sir John Fagg have Leave to go into the Country, for Recovery of his Health.

Preventing Counterfeiting Coin.

The Lords have passed a Bill, intituled, An Act to prevent the counterfeiting and clipping the Coin of this Kingdom: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House: Also,

Earl of Rochester's Estate.

They have agreed to the Amendment, made by this House, to the Bill, intituled, An Act for the dividing and settling the Estate of the Co-heirs of John late Earl of Rochester, deceased; and for discharging the Trusts thereupon.

And then the Messengers withdrew.

Thames Locks and Weirs.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, to whom the Bill for preventing Exactions of Occupiers of Locks and Weirs upon the River of Thames westward of the City of London; and for ascertaining the Price of Water-carriage upon the said River; was committed; be taken into Consideration upon Saturday Morning next.

Encouraging Seamen.

Resolved, That this House will, upon this Day Sevennight, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Bill for the better Encouragement and Increase of Seamen.

Yarmouth Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a new Writ, for the electing a Burgess to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Yarmouth, in the County of Southampton, in the room of Sir John Trevor Knight, expelled this House.

Corrupt Application of Money by E. l. Company.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, proceeded in the further Consideration of the Report from the Committee appointed to inspect the Books of the EastIndia Company, and of the Chamberlain of the City of London:

And Mr. Nathanael Hern, Mr. John Chadwick, Mr. Charles Nowis, Mr. George Finch, Mr. James Smith, Mr. Chiswell, and Mr. Dowse, attending, according to Order; and also one Mr. Buckingham;

They were severally called in; and examined.

And then withdrew.

Resolved, That Mr. Charles Nowis, having, to several Persons, pretended he was out of Purse, or engaged to give great Sums of Money to several Members of this House, in order to pass the Orphans Bill; which, on his Examination, he denied to have given, or promised; hath been an Occasion of Scandal to this House, and the Members thereof.

Ordered, That the said Mr. Charles Nois be taken into the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House.

Resolved, That this House will proceed in the further Consideration of the Report from the Committee appointed to inspect the Books of the East-India Company, and of the Chamberlain of London, To-morrow Morning, after the nominating of Commissioners for taking and stating the publick Accounts.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
