PRAYERS.

Lane, to enter into a Recognizance for the East India Company.

The House being moved, "That Lawrence Lane, of the East India House, in Leadenhall Street, London, Gentleman, may be permitted to enter into a Recognizance for the East India Company, on Account of their Appeal depending in this House:"

It is Ordered, That the said Lawrence Lane may enter into a Recognizance for the said Company accordingly.

Ash's Pet.

This Day being appointed, for the hearing Counsel, upon the Matter of the Petition of Mary Ash Widow, presented to this House Yesterday; desiring, "That their Lordships will order another Trial at Law concerning her Marriage;" as also to hear Counsel, in Answer to what may be offered thereupon:

They were directed to be called in.

Then the House was informed, "That Counsel attended against the Petition; but none on the Petitioner's Behalf."

Whereupon it was agreed, that the Counsel should be called in, and the said Petition read, and the said Counsel heard in Answer thereunto.

Accordingly the Counsel was called in.

And the Petition was read, and Sir Thomas Powys heard in Answer to the same.

And withdrew.

And Consideration having been had thereof:

Rejected.

Ordered, That the said Petition be rejected.

Free Conference on the Bill to prevent Robberies, &c.:

The House being informed, "That the Managers of the Commons for the Free Conference were ready, in the Painted Chamber:"

The Names of the Managers for this House formerly appointed were read.

And the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and the Lords went to the Free Conference.

Which being ended, the House was resumed.

Report of it:

And the Earl of Stamford reported the Arguments used at the Free Conference; and, "That the Managers for the Commons hoped, that this House would recede from the Amendments to which the House of Commons disagreed."

Lords recede from their Amendments to the Bill:

Then, upon Consideration of the Report of the said Free Conference, the House agreed, not to insist on the said Amendments.

Message to H. C. to acquaint them with it.

And a Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Dormer and Mr. Browning:

To acquaint them, "That the Lords do not insist on the Amendments made by their Lordships to the Bill, intituled, An Act for the further preventing Robbery, Burglary, and other Felonies; and the more effectual Transportation of Felons and unlawful Exporters of Wool, to which the Commons disagreed."

Papers, Newcastle Hospital Bill, to be returned.

Ordered, That the Papers laid before this House, on Account of the Debate which arose after the Third Reading of the Bill relating to the Hospital of The Holy Jesus, at Newcastle upon Tyne, be returned to the Persons who brought the same.

Running of Goods, to prevent, Bill.

The Order of the Day being read, for the House to be put into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the Bill, intituled, "An Act against the clandestine Running of uncustomed and prohibited Goods; and for the more effectual preventing of Frauds relating to the Customs and Excise:"

And it being proposed, "To adjourn the same till To-morrow:"

And the Order of the Day being insisted on:

The Question was put, "Whether this House shall be now adjourned during Pleasure, in order to be put into the said Committee?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Then the House accordingly was adjourned during Pleasure, and put in a Committee upon the said Bill.

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the said Committee, "That they had made some further Progress in the Bill; and directed him to move, that they may have Leave to sit again."

Ordered, That this House be put into a Committee, to consider further of the said Bill, To-morrow.

Adjourn.
