PRAYERS.

The Lord Chancellor reported, "That he, with the House, did Yesterday attend His Majesty, and present to Him their humble Address; to which His Majesty was pleased to return the following most Gracious Answer; videlicet,

His Majesty's Answer to Address.

My Lords,

"I thank you kindly for this very dutiful Address: Your Zeal and Affection to My Person and Government is what (under God) I shall always principally rely on."

Ordered, that the said Address, and His Majesty's most Gracious Answer thereunto, be forthwith printed and published.

River Wear and Port of Sunderland, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the Preservation and Improvement of the River Wear, and Port and Haven of Sunderland, in the County of Durham."

Standing Orders concerning the Hearing of Causes, to be considered.

Notice being taken, "That the Standing Orders of this House, made to prevent or restrain the proceeding on Business upon Days whereon Causes are appointed to be heard before such Hearings, are defective, or of late have not been strictly observed:"

And thereupon the Standing Order of this House, of the 14th of January 1705, which forbids the Reading of Private Bills before the Hearing of Causes; and also the Standing Order of the 28th of June 1715, which directs Causes to be called in precisely at Eleven a Clock, and no other Business to intervene; being read:

It is Ordered, That on Saturday next this House will take the said Orders into Consideration, in order to enforce the same, or remedy any Defects there may be therein; and that the Lords be then summoned to attend the Service of this House.

Bond & al. versus Hele & al.

After hearing Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal of Isabella Bond, Widow, Relict, and Administratrix, of John Bond Esquire, deceased, Paschasius Minne and Martha his Wife, Caleb, Martha, Mary, Gertrude, John, and Isabella Minne, their Children, Infants, by the said Paschasius Minne their Father and Guardian; complaining of a Decree made by the late Lord Chancellor, on the Eighteenth Day of July 1713, in a Cause wherein Charity and Julyan Hele, Infants, by Julian their Mother and next Friend, were Plaintiffs, and the Appellants and others Defendants; and praying, "That the said Decree may be reversed and rectified, and the Appellants relieved: As also upon the Answer of the said Charity and Julian Hele put in to the said Appeal; and likewise hearing the Judges of the Court of King's Bench, as to the Matter of Law, who continued of the same Opinion as was certified by them to the Court of Chancery; and also hearing all the other Judges, who concurred in Opinion with the Judges of the Court of King's Bench; and on due Consideration had of what was offered in this Case:

Judgement affirmed.

It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal be, and is hereby, dismissed this House; and that the said Decree therein complained of be, and is hereby, affirmed.

Sir R. Barnardiston versus Carter.

Upon reading the Petition of Sir Robert Barnardiston Baronet and others; setting forth, "That the Order of this House, for hearing their Appeal on Monday next, was served so late upon them, that they cannot be prepared by the Time appointed; and Mr. Peer Williams, One of their Counsel, is lately fallen sick; and that One Part of this Cause being, as the Petitioners are advised, Matter of Law; and praying, that the said Hearing may be put off for a Week; and that the Judges attend this House at the Hearing:"

And thereupon the Petitioners Agent being called in, and examined upon Oath, at the Bar, as to Notice given to the Respondent, pursuant to the Standing Order:

It is Ordered, That the Hearing of the said Cause be, and is hereby, adjourned to Friday the Seventeenth Day of this Infant May, at Eleven a Clock; and that the Judges do then attend this House.

Lawrence versus Lawrence.

The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed, for hearing the Cause wherein Giles Lawrence Gentleman is Appellant, and Dulcibella Lawrence Respondent:"

It is Ordered, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Thursday the Sixteenth Day of this Instant May, at Eleven a Clock.

Adjourn.
