Turner versus Smith & al.
Upon reading the Petition of John Turner, Rector and Vicar of Coverham, in the County of York; praying, "In regard the Respondents to his Appeal live in Yorkshire, One Hundred and Seventy Miles distant from London; and the Petitioner not having Money to carry him down, to serve the Order of this House for their answering, by reason of his Poverty; that the Order made for that Purpose being served upon the Respondents Clerk or Solicitor in this Cause here may be good Service:"
It is Ordered, That the Service of the said Order of this House on the Respondents Clerk or Solicitor in this Cause here shall be deemed good Service, for the Respondents answering the said Appeal.
Message from H. C. for a Conference concerning the Course of Proceedings on Impeachments.
A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir John Hobart and others:
To desire a Conference with this House, in relation to the Course of Proceedings on Impeachments exhibited by the Commons.
To which the House agreed.
Answer.
And the Commons were called in; and told, "That the Lords do agree to a Conference, as desired; and appoint the same, at Two a Clock To-morrow, in the Painted Chamber."
Lloyd versus Burton.
Whereas this Day was appointed, for hearing the Cause wherein John Lloyd Gentleman and Mary his Wife are Appellants, and Cornelius Burton an Instant, by Sarab Burton his Mother and prochein Amie, is Respondent:
The House being moved, "That the hearing the same may be put off to a further Day;" and the Standing Order of this House, of the 28th of June 1715, for calling in of Causes at Eleven a Clock, being read:
It is Ordered, That this House will proceed to hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Saturday next, at Eleven a Clock, according to the said Standing Order.
Adjourn.
