Report, Precedents about Proceedings after Answers are put in to Impeachments.
The Lord President reported from the Committee, appointed to inspect Precedents of the Method of proceeding after the Delivery of Answers to Articles of Impeachment, "That they had accordingly inspected the Journals of this House, touching the Matter to them referred; and offer the several Instances following to their Lordships Consideration; (videlicet,)
"10th June 1626. A Copy of the Duke of Buckingham's Answer sent to the Commons: He was accused of Misdemeanors, Misprisions, Offences, and Crimes."
"25th February, 1640. Lord Keeper, at a Conference, to deliver the Copy of the Earl of Strafford's Answer to Articles of Inpeachment of High I reason, &c. and the Original to examine the Copy by; and afterwards to return the Original, to remain here, as by Right it ought."
"12th November, 1641. Twelve Bishops delivered in their Answers to Articles of high Crimes, &c. consisting of Pleas and Demurrers; and a Message was sent to the Commons, to deliver to them the Plea and Demurrer of the said Bishops."

Ordered, That a Copy of the Answer of Robert Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer, put in to the Articles of Impeachment exhibited against him by the House of Commons, be prepared; and that, after the same hath been carefully examined, by the Clerk, it be sent down, by a Message, to the House of Commons.
Laws continuing, Bill.
The Earl of Clarendon reported from the Committee of the whole House, to whom the Bill, intituled, "An Act for continuing several Laws therein mentioned, relating to Coals, Hemp, and Flax, Irish and Scotch Linen, and the Assize of Bread; and for giving Power to adjourn the Quarter Sessions for the County of Anglesea, for the Purposes therein mentioned," was committed, the Amendments made by the Committee to the said Bill.
Which were read Twice, and agreed to, as follows:
"Pr. 5. l. 9. After ["elsewhere"], insert ["except as in the said Act is excepted"].
"L. 12. Leave out from ["notwithstanding"] to ["be it"], in the 19th Line; and after ["be it"], insert ["nevertheless"], and leave out ["further"]; and in the same Line leave out from ["enacted"], to ["that"], in the 24th Line."

"L. 30. Leave out ["the said County in general for"].
Palatines, Ireland, Bill.
The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for allowing a Time for Two Hundred and Thirteen Families of Protestant Palatines now settled in Ireland, to take the Oaths, in order to entitle them to all the Benefits intended them by the Act of the Seventh Year of Her late Majesty's Reign, for naturalizing Foreign Protestants."
And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.
And the Lord Bishop of Carlisle reported from the Committee, "That they had gone through the Bill; and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment."
Yule Vacance in Scotland, Bill.
Ordered, That To-morrow this House shall be put into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for shortening the Time of the Yule Vacance, in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland."
Tobacco and Wine Merchants Bill.
Ordered, That on Wednesday next this House shall be put into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for Relief of Merchants, Importers of Tobacco and Wine, concerned in Bonds given for Part of the Duties on the same."
Naval Stores, &c. Bill.
Ordered, That To-morrow this House shall be put into a Committee of the whole House, upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to prevent Disturbances by Seamen and others; and to preserve the Stores belonging to His Majesty's Navy Royal; and also for explaining an Act for the better preventing the Embezzlement of His Majesty's Stores of War, and preventing Frauds, Cheats, and Abuses in paying Seamen's Wages; and for the reviving and continuing an Act for the more effectual Suppression of Piracy."
