This Day George Lord Bishop of Bath & Wells took the Oaths, and made and subscribed the Declaration, and also took and subscribed the Oath of Abjuration, pursuant to the Statutes.

Message from H. C. with a Bill.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Pulteney and others:

With a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better regulating the Forces to be continued in His Majesty's Service; and for the Payment of the said Forces, and of their Quarters;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Bridges, for one to enter into Recognizance for him, Pet.

Upon reading the Petition of Shem Bridges Esquire; praying, "That, in regard he has been a considerable Time indisposed, and not able to come out of his House, some sufficient Person may give Security, on his Behalf, to answer Costs, in case any should be awarded upon hearing his Appeal:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That some sufficient Person may enter into a Recognizance for the Petitioner, as desired.

Fry's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of Dorothy Fry, Widow and Relict of Nicholas Fry Esquire deceased, on the Behalf of Henry Fry, her Infant Son; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, to vest in Trustees Part of the Estate of the said Nicholas Fry (not settled in Jointure), to be sold, for Payment of his Debts, and for making Provision for Dorothy his only Daughter; and for laying out the Overplus (if any) for the Use and Benefit of Henry Fry the Instant, and his Heirs:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition be referred to the Consideration of Mr. Baron Bury and Mr. Baron Price; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

E. Cardigan and Mr. Shelton's Petition referred to Judges.

Upon reading the Petition of George Earl of Cardigan and Theophilus Shelton Esquire; praying Leave to bring in a Bill, for confirming the Sale of the Fee Simple and Inheritance of the Manor of Darrington, alias Darington cum Smeaton, in the County of York, made by the said Earl of Cardigan, to the said Theophilus Shelton and his Heirs, freed from the Marriage Settlement of the said Earl; and for laying out the Purchasemoney in other Lands, to be settled to the same Uses as the said Manor is limited by the said Marriage Settlement:

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition be referred to the Consideration of Mr. Justice Dormer and Mr. Justice Eyre; who are forthwith to summon all Parties concerned in the Bill; and, after hearing them, to report to the House the State of the Case, with their Opinion thereupon, under their Hands, and whether all Parties that may be concerned in the Consequences of the Bill have signed the Petition; and also that the Judges, having perused the Bill, do sign the same.

Herriot's Hospital versus Hepburne.

The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed, for hearing the Cause wherein the Gubernators of the Orphans Hospital, commonly called Herriot's Hospital, near to the City of Edinburgh, and James Young their Treasurer, are Appellants, and Robert Hepburn of Bearford is Respondent:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Thursday the Second Day of June next, at Eleven a Clock.

Dunlop to enter into Recognizance for Butchers of Edinburgh.

Upon reading the Petition of Patrick Kincaid Deacon, and Archibald Brown Box-master, of the Incorporated Company of the Butchers of the Borough of Edinburgh, for themselves, and in Name and Behalf of the said Corporation; praying, "That, in regard the Petitioners Affairs necessarity require their Residence in Scotland, William Dunlop Gentleman, their Agent, may be accepted, to enter into a Recognizance for and on the Behalf of the Petitioners, to answer Costs, in case any should be awarded upon hearing their Appeal:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said William Dunlop may enter into a Recognizance for the Petitioners, as desired.

Morrison versus Nisbett.

The House being moved, "That a Day may be appointed, for hearing the Cause wherein William Morison, of Preston Grange, Esquire, is Appellant, and William Nisbet, of Dirlton, Esquire, and others, are Respondents:"

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House will hear the said Cause, by Counsel, at the Bar, on Friday the Twenty-seventh Day of this Instant May, at Eleven a Clock.

L. Digby's Bill, to debar his Eldest Son from his Title, &c.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for appointing Persons to take Care of the Person and Estate of John Digby Esquire, Eldest Son and Heir Apparent of William Lord Digby in the Kingdom of Ireland."

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Monday next; and that the said John Digby have Notice thereof; and Liberty to be heard, by Counsel, before the said Committee, if he thinks fit.
