Answer from the H. C.
Mr. Page and Mr. Dr. Heath, sent with a Message to the House of Commons on Wednesday last, return with this Answer:
That they agree to the adding of Two Lords to the Committee that are to treat with The States Ambassadors, and they have added a proportionable Number of their House; and touching the Petition of the Earl of Thanett, they will take the same into Consideration.
Browne, Cler. Parl. against Sir Thomas Dawes, for Scandal.
Upon reading the Petition of John Browne, Clerk of the Parliaments; "complaining of Sir Thomas Dawes, for laying an Imputation on the Justice of this House, and a Scandal upon the Petitioner:" It is Ordered, That Sir Tho. Dawes Knight, and Wilson the Solicitor, shall appear before this House on Monday Morning next, to answer the same.
Report from the Committee appointed to treat with The States Ambassadors about Restitutions.
The Earl of Northumb. reported, "That the Committee of both Houses, that are appointed to treat with The States Ambassadors concerning Ships, have had Occasion to peruse the Declaration of both Houses concerning Foreign Ships that bring Ammunition, &c. to Ports in Defection from the Parliament; and they do apprehend, that, if some Explanation be not made concerning that Declaration, it will not only debar trading here, but will be an Occasion for other Princes and States to prohibit trading with them; therefore the Opinion of the Committee is, that the publishing of the said Declaration be respited for some Time, until the Committee shall give a further Account of it."
Hereupon this House approved of the Opinion of the Committee; and Ordered the same accordingly.
Vaneinden's Cause.
This Day Counsel of the Dutch Merchants were heard, concerning the Cause between Mrs. Vandenenden and them: And it is Ordered, That this House will hear Counsel on both Sides on Monday next, concerning the Point of the Will only.
Adjourn.
House adjourned till 9a cras.
