Ordered, That the Cause of Chapman and others shall be heard on Thursday come Month, at this Bar; and all Parties whom it concerns shall have Notice thereof.

Answer from the H. C.

Sir Rob't Rich and Mr. Page, sent Yesterday with a Message to the House of Commons, return with this Answer:

That they take Notice of Thursday next, for the Trial of the Archbishop of Cant. and that they do agree with their Lordships, that Mr. Humphry Hardwicke shall be added to the Assembly of Divines.

Mr. Corbet's Ordinance.

Next, the Ordinance lately brought up from the House of Commons, for putting Mr. Miles Corbett into the Place of Mr. Chamberlaine, in the Court of Wards and Liveries, was read. (Here enter it.)

And it being put to the Question;

It was Resolved in the Affirmative, to pass.

Resolution that no Members shall have Offices, vacated.

Ordered, That the Resolution of this House, made the 12th of December 1643, concerning the not admitting of Members of either House to Offices and Places, is hereby vacated, and made of none Effect.

Persons returned from Denmark, to give an Account of their Negotiation.

It was moved, "That whereas both Houses of Parliament sent to the King of Denmarke in September last Mr. Haake and Mr. Lowther, for the Merchants Adventurers Business; and Mr. Barker and Mr. Jenkes for the Affairs of The Eastland Company; Mr. Haake, Barker, and Lowther, are come back again, with Recredentials to the Parliament; and therefore their humble Request is, they may receive (fn. 1) their Lordships Pleasure, when and where to attend, and to give a full Account of their Employments and Negotiation."

Hereupon this House Ordered, That the Parties aforesaid shall give an Account to this House on Friday Morning next, at this Bar.

Sir John Cordell, Limbley, & al. and Langham.

The House heard the Counsel on both Sides concerning the Business between Alderman Langham and others, against Lymbry and others, touching the Dismission of the Cause out of this House to the Chancery.

And the House taking the Business into Debate; Ordered, That, according to the former Order of this House, Lymbry and others are to go on in their Judgement, according to the Course of the Common Law; but Execution is to be stayed, and Langham and others left to take their Remedy in Equity, as they shall be advised by their Counsel Learned in the Law.

Message from the H. C. to expedite the Ordinance to exclude the Members who have deserted the Houses;

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by the Lord Grey of Groby:

1. To desire their Lordships would please to give Expedition to the Ordinance concerning the excluding the Members of both Houses as have deserted the Parliament.

and the One concerning the Committee of both Kingdoms.

2. To desire Expedition to the Ordinance concerning the Committee of both Kingdoms, because divers Letters are directed to that Committee, which are not opened because the said Committee is not settled.

The Answer returned was:

Answer.

That this House will send an Answer to this Message, by Messengers of their own.

Committee to draw up Reasons for not agreeing to the last;

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to draw up Reasons to offer to the House of Commons, why their Lordships do not agree with them in the Ordinance with the Alterations, for excluding the Members of both Houses that have deserted the Parliament, shall meet this Afternoon, at Three of the Clock.

who are to consider of vindicating the Honour of this House, concerning a Message Yesterday brought up.

Ordered, That it is referred to the aforesaid Committee, that are to draw up the Reasons, to consider what Course is fit to be taken for the vindicating the Honour of this House, which was concerned in the Message brought up by Sir Henry Mildmay from the House of Commons, touching the Committee of both Kingdoms; and Mr. Serjeant Whitfield is to attend the Lords Committees this Afternoon, at Three of the Clock.

Ordinance for granting Patents to be signed by the Clerks of both Houses.

Ordered, That all Ordinances that are for granting of Patents are to be written at the Top of the Warrants and signed by the Clerk of both Houses of Parliament, as a Warrant to the Commissioners for passing the same under the Great Seal.

Ordinance for Mr. Corbett to have Mr. Chamberlain's Place in the Court of Wards.

Whereas Mr. Richard Chamberlain, One of the Clerks of the Court of Wards and Liveries, hath gone to Oxford, and deserted and neglected that Duty and Trust belonging to his said Place, and hath adhered to, and combined with, such as are in actual War against the Parliament: It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Miles Corbett Esquire have and execute the said Place and Office belonging to the said Mr. Chamberlaine, and do enjoy (fn. 2) all just and due Fees and Profits belonging to the said Office; and that the Commissioners of the Great Seal are hereby required to pass a Grant to that Purpose unto the said Miles Corbett, in the same Manner as Mr. Chamberlaine had the same before."

Adjourn.
