PRAYERS.

Earl of Manchester was Speaker this Day.

Countess of Banbury, a Pass.

Ordered, That the Countess of Banbury shall have a Pass, to go into France, and Seven Servants, and Four Horses.

Mr. Maxwell, the Gentleman Usher's Assessment respited.

The House was this Day informed, "That Mr. (fn. 1) Maxwell, the Gentleman Usher of this House, hath a Warrant sent to his House, from the Committee at Haberdashers Hall, to pay in One Thousand Pounds, according to the Ordinance for assessing of the Twentieth Part;" and, in regard Mr. Maxwell is in Scotland by Leave of this House, it is Ordered, That the same (fn. 2) be respited, until (fn. 2) by this House further considered of.

Jackson sent for, for threatening Lord Howard, concerning the E. of Berkshire's Assessment.

Upon Information to this House, "That one John Jackson sent a Note to the Lord Howard, that, if he did not speedily pay Money for the Earl of Barkshire, upon the Ordinance of Sequestration, he would come and fetch away the Goods:" Hereupon it is Ordered, That the said John Jackson shall attend this House on Monday Morning next, to give an Account why he sent this Warrant to the Lord Howard.

E. of Portland's Petition for a speedy Trial.

The Petition of the Earl of Portland, was read; shewing, "That he being in Custody, very prejudicial to his Family and himself, desires that he may be speedily brought to a legal Trial before their Lordships, whereby he may acquit himself of such a heavy Suspicion, as by their Justice he is assured he shall; and that, in the mean Time, he may be removed nearer his Family, and have Leave to speak with his Friends and Servants about his own Business, and Power to dispose of some of his Goods for their Subsistence:" Hereupon this House Ordered, To communicate this Petition to the House of Commons, with their Lordships Sense, which was, "That their Lordships think it fit that, if within a few Days the House of Commons do not make a further Accusation against the Earl of Portland, or further make Use of his Examination, their Lordships intend to grant him that Liberty, for himself and his Family, as is desired in the Petition."

Message from the H. C. to expedite the Ordinance about the Excise;

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Baynton; which consisted of divers Particulars:

1. To desire Expedition in the Ordinance for the Excise.

Ordered, To be considered of on Monday next.

with One for Concurrence.

2. An Ordinance, wherein they desire their Lordships Concurrence, for the Demolishing of Hornby Castle, in Lancashire.

Ordered, To be respited.

with Committees Names for the Isle of Wight, &c.

3. To desire Concurrence in nominating certain (fn. 3) Persons, to be added to the Committees of the Isle of Wight, and other Counties.

Agreed to all the Names, excepting Rob't Ingram. (Here enter them.)

and to expedite Sir Peter Rycault's Ordinance.

4. To desire Expedition to the Ordinance concerning the Estate of Sir Peter Ricaut.

The Answer returned was:

That their Lordships will take the Message into Consideration, and send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Answer to the H. C.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Dr. Heath and Mr. Page:

To let them know, that their Lordships do agree to the Names to be added as Committees in several Counties, excepting to Rob't Ingram for the County of Huntingdon.

Justice Berkley's Trial.

Ordered, That the Trial of Mr. Justice Berckley shall be on Tuesday next.

Major Roper to be paid 200 l.

Ordered, That the Petition of Serjeant Major Roper shall be recommended to the Committee for the Irish Affairs, that they would pay to him as much as Two Hundred Pounds, to the Deputy Treasurer for Ireland, for the Discharge of the Debt mentioned in the Petition.

Sir Tho. Mildmay & al. to attend, for displacing Keepers in Waltham Forest.

Upon Information to this House, "That Sir Thomas Mildmay, and Mr. Cary Mildmay, and Mr. Halsehead, George Davies, have displaced divers Keepers in the Forest of Waltham, and placed others in their Places:" Hereupon this House Ordered, That the Persons abovesaid shall be summoned to appear before this House on Monday next.

Assembly of Divines authorized to send for Papers.

"It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the now Assembly of Divines shall have Power to send for the Copies of all such Records and Leidger-books, as they shall conceive necessary for their present Use and Occasions in the said Assembly; and all Officers and others, in whose Custody such Records and Leidgerbooks are, are hereby enjoined to deliver forth, for the Use of the said Assembly, all such Copies of such Records and Leidger-books as the Prolocutor of the said Assembly shall, by Order of the said Assembly, send for, by Warrant under his Hand in Writing."
