PRAYERS.

Earl of Manchester.

Weems's Sequestration.

Upon the Petition of Jane Weemes, (fn. 1) desiring "further Time to send to her Husband, to give him Notice to appear before this House, to answer to the Charge of Sequestration against him:" It is Ordered, That he shall appear upon Monday next come Fortnight.

Lady Chandois, a Pass.

Ordered, That the Lady Chandois shall have a Pass, to bring her Goods from Harvill to London.

Judgement against Dr. Soames to be considered.

The House took into Consideration what Judgement to give against Dr. Soames; and, for his Misdemeanors, this House doth defer their Judgement until this House be informed of the Value of the Vicarage of Stanes, and the Nature and how the Profits consist.

The City will raise 40,000l.

The Lord Viscount Say & Seale acquainted this House, That the Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and Common Council of the City of London have agreed to advance speedily Forty Thousand Pounds, to supply the Army with; and they have some Things which they desire to offer to their Lordships Consideration:

Propositions from thence.

"1. That Four adjacent Counties to the City may be added, for the securing and speedy reimbursing of such Monies as they have advanced.

"2. They desire that their Lordships would please to pass the Ordinance brought up from the House of Commons, for the cessing of the Twentieth Parts of the Estates of ill-affected Persons, in the several Counties of this Kingdom, because divers Citizens that have got great Estates in Land have left the City, and live in the Country.

"3. That their Lordships would please to join in an Association, for the Preservation of the King, Parliament, and City of London, from Violence and Force."

Answer to them.

This House agreed to the adding of Four Counties to the City of London, for their Reimbursement of Monies advanced; and appointed the Committee for the Ordinance of the Twentieth Part to meet this Afternoon, at Three of the Clock.

Earl of Bath, Leave to go to The Spa.

Ordered, That this House gives Liberty to the Earl of Bath to go beyond the Seas, to drink The Spaw Waters, for his Health; and that his Lady shall have Leave to go with him.

Ordered, To have a Conference with the House of Commons, and acquaint them with this Desire of the Earl of Bath.

Earl of Southampton and Family, Leave to travel.

Ordered, That the Earl of South'ton, Son and Daughter, shall have Leave to travel into France, with such Servants and other Necessaries as they shall have Occasion to attend upon them.

Book for tolerating Sports on the Sabbath, to be burnt by the Hangman.

"It is this Day Ordered, by the Lords in Parliament, That the Book concerning the enjoining and tolerating of Sports upon the Lords-day, be forthwith burnt, by the Hand of the Common Hangman, in Cheapeside, and other usual Places; and, to this Purpose, the Sheriffs of London and Midd. respectively are hereby required to be assistant to the effectual Execution of this Order, and see the said Books burnt accordingly; and all Persons who have any of the said Books in their Hands are hereby required forthwith to deliver them to One of the Sheriffs of London, to be burnt, according to this Order."

Committee for Sequestrations.

Ordered, That the Earls of Northumb. and Sarum are hereby added to the Committee of Sequestrations; and any Five Committees of both Houses are to meet.

Message to the H. C. about it.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Edward Leech and Dr. Bennet:

To let the House of Commons know, that their Lordships have added Two Lords to the Committee for the Sequestrations; and desire them to add a proportionable Number; and that any Five of the Committee of both Houses may meet.

Lords who come after Prayers to pay to the Poor's Box.

Ordered, That this House shall sit at Nine of the Clock in the Mornings, and sit until Twelve; and such Lords as come after Prayers shall pay to the Poors Box.

Judges to be served with the Orders.

Ordered, That the Servant of the Gentleman Usher shall have a Pass, to go into the Country, and serve the Orders upon the Judges.

Sequestrations.

Ordered, That this House will hear the Sequestrations To-morrow Morning.

Message from the H. C. about sending Commissioners to Scotland;

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Sir Wm. Strickland; which consisted of divers Particulars:

1. That whereas formerly they desired their Lordships to join with the House of Commons, in sending Commissioners into Scotland, they desire their Lordships would give some Answer therein.

to expedite the Order about striking Tallies in the Exchequer;

2. To desire their Lordships Expedition in an Order formerly brought up from the House of Commons, concerning striking of Tallies in the Exchequer.

and for Concurrence in several Orders.

3. To desire their Lordships Concurrence in divers Orders.

The Answer returned was:

That this House will take the several Particulars of this Message into speedy Consideration, and return an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Nettervile bailed.

Johannes Bowen, de St. (fn. 3) Andrews Holborne (fn. 4) Generosus, et Henricus Leyster, de London, Mercator Scissor, recognoverunt seipsos parte, & cujuslibet eorum per se pro toto, debere Domino Regi in Quatuor Centum Libris, levari ex Terris, Bonis, Tenementis, et Catallis suis, ad usum Domini Regis, &c.

The Condition of the abovesaid Recognizance is, That if Nettevile shall not go into the Kingdom of Ireland during the Rebellion there, nor to the Army of the King wheresoever it be, that then this Recognizance to be void; else to remain and be in full Force and Virtue.

Ordered, That Mr. Nettervile, upon this giving of Security, shall be released of his present Imprisonment.

Adjourn.

House adjourned till 9 a cras.
