PRAYERS.
A Paper from the Lord General of the Army read.
The Lord Keeper signified to the House, That he was commanded by His Majesty to let their Lordships know that he had received a Paper from the Lord General of the Army, which was sent to him from the House of Commons; concerning which His Majesty desires your Lordships Advice and Directions, being a Matter of great Weight and Importance.
The Paper was read, in hæc verba. (fn. 1)
Resolved, upon the Question,
Papist Commanders in the North to be removed.
That the Lord General be desired, by Message from this House, to remove all Commanders, and other Officers in the North, which are Papists, or justly suspected to be Popish; and put Protestant Commanders and Officers in their Place.
Resolved, upon the Question,
His Majesty to be moved for it.
The Army to be mustered and paid.
That some Honourable Personage, a Member of this House, be desired to move His Majesty, That all Commanders and other Officers in the Army, that go under the Name of Reformadoes, are an unnecessary Charge, and fit to be spared; and that the Lord General be moved, by Message from this House thereunto, That those Companies, and other Officers, that shall be thus cashiered by the Lord General, shall be paid to the 8th of December. The Lord General to be desired, by Message from this House, speedily to make a new Muster; and that Sir William Udall be Ordered to pay that Army upon that Roll.
And, after some Consideration hereof, the House did Agree, That the Lord General should signify to His Majesty, That this House doth in every Thing concur and agree to the Advice that the House of Commons have presented in the Paper.

These Lords were sworn at the Clerk's Table; the Lord Keeper reading the Oath; and afterwards told their Lordships, that he was commanded, by the House, to put their Lordships in Mind that they must be secret, and not to reveal any Thing concerning their Deposition in this Cause, until Publication be granted, or Leave from this Honourable House.
Cessation of Arms agreed to for a Month
Earl of Bristol signified to the House, That Yesterday the Lords Commissioners acquainted the Scottish Commissioners, that the Cessation of Arms between both Kingdoms is continued for One Month longer, and approved of by both Houses of Parliament.
Adjourn.
