The Messengers sent to the House of Commons Yesterday return with this Answer:

That they have delivered the Message to the House of Commons, concerning Justice Berkeley to keep the Essoigns upon Thursday next.

Bill for a Synod, to settle the Doctrine of the Church.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the calling of an Assembly of Learned and Godly Divines, to be consulted with by the Parliament, for the settling of the Government and Liturgy of the Church; and for the vindicating and clearing of the Doctrine of the Church of England from false Aspersions and Interpretations.

Ordered, That this Bill is committed to the Committee of the whole House.

Carriages to pass through Dean's Yard, till Palace Yard is paved.

Ordered, That Carts and Coaches shall be permitted to pass through The Dean's Yard in Westminster until the Paving of The Old Palace be finished.

Darrell, Lord Mulgrave's Servant's Privilege.

Delinquents committed for arresting him.

This Day Rob't Walley, a Mercer, and George Norman, the Serjeant, were brought to this Bar as (fn. 1) Delinquents, for arresting George Darrell, a Servant of the Earl of Mulgrave, contrary to the Privilege of Parliament; and Walley confessed he arrested him, but his Protection is Two Years old. Hereupon they were commanded to withdraw; and this House conceived that Walley and the Serjeant had committed a great Contempt to this House, in arresting the said Darrell; and Ordered, That the said Walley and Norman shall be presently committed to The Fleet, there to remain until the Pleasure of this House be further known; and that the said George Darrell shall be presently discharged from his Imprisonment; and that the said Walley shall pay to Darrell such Charges as he hath been at in this Business; and that they make Submission to the Earl of 'Mulgrave, for slighting of his Lordship's Protection.

Adjourn.

Adjourn till 10a cras.
