Occ. this preb., as Master James, Oct. 1226 × Feb. 1227 (app. 1). Presum. to be identified with M. James of Vercelli, fined for non-residence Feb. 1227 (RSO II 77) and absent abroad 9 Sept. 1228 (ibid. p. 104). Prob. the unnamed 'canonicus Prestone' who was absent 19 Oct. 1233 (Sar. Chs. p. 230).

Only occ. as can. and this preb. May-June 1284 (app. 2). Treas. of Exchequer; royal justice; archdcn. of Coventry; bp.-el. of Rochester 1283 (1 Fasti II 77). Bp. of Ely, el. 26 July 1286, temps. 7 Sept., cons. 22 Sept. (ibid. p. 47).
