Estate in Durnford (Wilts.) held by William of Eu 1086 (DB I 71c), whose lands were confiscated 1093. Church endowed by Isabel de Tosny, widow of Walter son of Richard (RSO I 266; Sar. Chs. pp. 34-5), and gr. by her to cath. before 1158, when conf. by Henry II (RSO I 203-4).
Preb. prob. in existence by c. 1150 (Psalter list), certainly by 1220 (see M. Henry Tessun, below). Preb. consisted of church of Durnford. See also Sar. Chs. p. 236.
Dcn.-preb.; cantoris side; term of residence c. 1270: Jan.-March.
