Mr. Hakewill and Mr. Page return with this Answer from the House of Commons:

That they agree in the Lords Sense, concerning the Instructions to be sent to Kent by the Earl of Thanett.

Message from thence, for the Committee at Derby House to sit constantly,—and to add Persons to Militia Committees.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Bunckley, &c.

To let their Lordships know, that, in this Time of Distractions, they think fit that the Committee of Derby House do sit constantly; and therefore they have enjoined the Members of their House that are of [ (fn. 2) that Committee] to meet; and they desire their Lordships would please to do the like.

Agreed to.

2. They desire their Lordships would expedite the Vote formerly sent up, for adding Mr. Knightly to the Committee of Derby House. (Here enter it.)

Agreed to.

3. To desire Concurrence, for adding divers Persons to be of the Militia in several Counties.

The Answer returned was:

That this House hath enjoined their Members to meet at the Committee of Derby House constantly; that their Lordships do agree to the adding of Mr. Knightly to be of that Committee; and this House agrees to those Persons to be added to the Militia of the several Counties.

Message to the H. C. to add Peers to the Committee at Derby House.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Mr. Doctor Bennctt and Mr. Eltonhcade:

To desire their Concurrence, that the Earls of Pembrooke, Sarum, Denbigh, Mulgrave, the Lord North, and Lord Howard, may be added to the Committee at Derby House, in regard of the great Business and constant Sitting of that Committee; and to desire they would add a proportionable Number of their Members to be added to them.

Countess of Mulgrave and St Paul Pindar.

Upon reading the Petition of the Lady Marian Countess Dowager of Mulgrave, on Behalf of herself and her Children, concerning their lawful Interest in the Allum Works in Mulgrave:

It is Ordered, That her Counsel, and the Counsel of Sir Paul Pyndar, shall be heard on Monday Morning, at Ten of the Clock.

Major Meldrum's Petition for Arrears.

Upon reading the Petition of Major George Meldrum, concerning the Payment of his Arrears:

It is Ordered, To be sent to the House of Commons, with Recommendations.

Ordered, That Charles Smeaton shall have further Time till Saturday Morning next, to put in his Answer to the Lady Lake's Petition.

Withers versus the E of Chesterfield, about a Building in Covent Garden.

Upon reading the Petition of Anto. Wither; complaining, "That the Earl of Chesterfield is rearing of a Building in The Covent Garden, very prejudicial to his Habitation, and contrary to the Covenant made with the Earl of Bedford:"

It is Ordered, That the Two next Justices of the Peace shall view the said Building, and proceed therein according to Law.

Ordinance to empower the Oxford Committee to send for Persons.

Upon Information to this House, by the Earl of Pembrooke, "That Doctor Shelden and Doctor Hamond do oppose the Proceedings of Parliament at Oxford:"

It is Ordered, That an Ordinance be brought in To-morrow Morning, to give the Committee for Oxford further Power to send for these Persons, and such others as they shall see Cause for.

"Instructions for the Right Honourable John Earl of Thanctt, upon Propositions by him offered, concerning appeasing the Tumult in Kent.

Instructions for the E. of Thanet, for appeasing the Insurrection in Kent.

"1. Your Lordship is desired to declare to those that are lately risen in Kent, That the Houses have lately published a Declaration concerning Petitions to be brought to the Houses, which is herewith delivered unto your Lordship: That, when they have delivered up the Towns, Magazines, and Arms that they have seized, and shall be retired peaceably to their Houses, they may bring and present a Petition to the Houses, according to the said Declaration.

"2. Your Lordship shall also declare unto them, That, upon their immediate Disbanding, and departing Home quietly to their Houses, they shall have Indemnity for what is past.

"3. Your Lordship is also desired to return to the Houses, between this and Saturday Morning, an Answer whether they do give Obedience to the Parliament, in laying down their Arms, delivering up the Magazines, and repairing quietly to their own Houses."

Ordered, That the Committee at Derby House do forthwith send down the Earl of Thanett, with these Instructions, into the County of Kent.

Coventry Militia Committees.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Thomas Love, the present Mayor of Coventry, be added to the Committee of the Militia for the City of Coventry.

Shropshire, D°.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Sir Humphrey Briggs be added to the Committee of the Militia in the County of Shropsheir.

Devon, D°.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Sir John Northcott and Sir Nicholas Marten be added to the Committee of Militia for the County of Devon.

Cornwall, D°.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Mr. Trefusis and Mr. Penrose be added to the Committee of the Militia for the County of Cornewall.

Midd. D°.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Colonel Harvey be added to the Committee of Militia for the County of Middlesex."

Knightly added to the Committee at Derby House.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That Mr. Knightley be added to the Committee of Lords and Commons at Derby House, in the Place of Sir William Waller, formerly of that Committee, and since disabled to be a Member of the House of Commons."
