The Earl of Warwicke reported Two Papers from the Committee of the Admiralty:

Agreed to; and ordered to be sent to the House of Commons for their Concurrence.

Col. Whalley's Ordinance for his Arrears.

An Ordinance for paying the Arrears of Colonel Whaly, was read Twice, and committed to these Lords following:

To meet presently, and report.

The Earl of Mulgrave reported from the Committee, the Ordinance concerning Colonel Whaley, as fit to pass, with some Alterations, which they offer to the Consideration of the House: Which being read, this House agreed to the said Ordinance, with the said Alterations.

Sir Wm. Belfore's Petition for his Arrears.

A Petition of Sir Wm. Belfore; desiring, "some Course may be taken for the Payment of his Arrears;" and ordered to be sent to the House of Commons, with Recommendations.

Sent to the H. C.

And accordingly it was delivered to Doctor Heath and Doctor Aylett, to be sent to the House of Commons.

Withers's Ordinance.

The Ordinance for Eighteen Hundred Pounds to be paid to Major George Withers, was read, and Agreed to. (Here enter it.)

Carter's Ordinance to be Minister of Saltwood.

An Ordinance was brought in, to make Thomas Carter Minister of the Parish Church of Saltwood, in the County of Kent, upon the Death of Doctor Kingsley; and, being read, was Agreed to, and ordered to be sent to the House of Commons for their Concurrence.

L. Broghill to be Master of the Ordnance in Ireland.

Ordered, That the Lord Broghill shall have the Place of Master of Ordnance, in the Kingdom of Ireland, upon the Death of Sir John Borlace; and that an Ordinance be brought in, for settling the said Office upon him.

Ihannes versus Robinson and Farren.

Upon reading the Petition of Wm. Ihanns, Merchant:

It is Ordered, That John Robinson and Mary Farren shall have a Copy of the Petition, and return their Answer within a Week after Notice.

Edbrook and Sir S. Luke.

Ordered, That the Complaint against Edbrooke and others shall be heard, at this Bar, the 17th of April next.

Col. Rainsborough to command the Fleet:

The Question being put, "Whether Colonel Ransborowe shall command this Summer's Fleet, as Vice Admiral?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Protest against it.

Memorandum, Before the putting the aforesaid Question, these Lords following desired Leave to enter their Dissents, if the Question was carried in the Affirmative: Which being granted, they did accordingly enter their Dissents, by subscribing their Names.

Crandley to command The Antelope.

Ordered, That Benjamin Crandly shall command in The Antilope, in the Place of Captain Hall.

Windsor Chapel to be repaired.

It was moved, as the Desire of Colonel Whitchcott, "That the Chapel of Windsor may be repaired."

It is Ordered, To be sent to the House of Commons, that some Course may be taken for the repairing of it.

Ordinance for Money for Northumberland, &c.

The Lord Wharton reported from the Committee, the Ordinance for Three Thousand One Hundred Fifteen Pounds, for Arms for Northumb. &c. as fit to pass, with some Alterations; which, being read, were Agreed to.

Order for Withers's Arrears.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That the Sum of Eighteen Hundred Pounds, Part of Two Thousand Pounds formerly ordered to Major Withers in Satisfaction of his Damages and Losses, be allowed and paid unto the said Major George Wither, in full Satisfaction of his said Damages and Losses, out of such concealed Delinquents Estates as he shall discover to the Committee at Habberdash'rs Hall; to whom it is referred to receive such Discoveries, and to order and take Care for the Payment of the said Eighteen Hundred Pounds, out of such Discoveries, accordingly."

Report from the Admiralty Committee; for a Draught of Capt. Green's to be paid from France, he being taken and carried in there:

"Die Martis, 7 Martii, 1647.

"By the Committee of Lords and Commons for the Admiralty and Cinque Ports.

"Whereas Captain John Greene (employed lately in the Parliament's Service as Commander in The Welcome Pinke) and his Company have been long imprisoned in France, where the said Vessel was seized upon by some Ships of St. Mallo, and is still there detained; and whereas, for Relief of the said Greene and his Company their great Wants, and the better to enable their Return Home, a Bill of Exchange for One Hundred Pounds Sterling is drawn by the said Captain Greene on the Committee of the Navy, for so much by him received in France: Ordered, That it be recommended to both Houses of Parliament (as the Opinion of this Committee), That the said Bill of Exchange be satisfied by the Treasurer of the Navy, on Warrant from the Committee of the Navy, if the Houses shall in their Wisdom so think fit.

For The Pellican to be employed in the Summer Fleet;

"Die Martis, 14 Martii, 1647.

"By the Committee of Lords and Commons for the Admiralty and Cinque Ports.

"Whereas The Pellican Frigatt hath been employed this last Winter, as also in several former Expeditions, in the Parliament's Service at Sea; but was, through an Omission, left out of the List returned by the Commissioners of the Navy for the next Summer's Guard; and for that she will be a very useful Vessel, and contract no great Charge, being but One Hundred and Thirty-three Tons, and bearing Forty Men and Ten Guns: Ordered, That Report be made hereof to both Houses of Parliament; to whom it is recommended, that, by their Order, she may be added unto the Summer's Fleet, if they shall in their Wisdom think fit.

and The Angel, an Irish Prize.

"Whereas an Irish Man of War, called The Angell, bearing Six Guns and about Thirty Men, was lately surprized at Sea, by the Parliament's Frigate The Adventure, under Command of Captain Andrew Ball, which Prize is certified by the Vice Admiral of the Fleet to be a very serviceable Vessel, and fit to be employed as One of the next Summer's Fleet: Ordered, That Report be made hereof to both Houses of Parliament; to whom it is recommended, that, by their Order, the said Frigate may be added unto the Summer's Fleet, if they shall in their Wisdom so think fit.
