That they agree to the Alterations in the Declaration in Answer to the Scotts Paper, and to the Reference to Derby House: (Here enter them.) As to the rest, they will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Dr. Aylett, &c. return with this Answer from the House of Commons:

That they agree to the Ordinance concerning the Free School of Manchester, and to the Addition of Four Lords to Eight Members of the House of Commons to be of the Committee of the Admiralty: (Here enter them.) As to the approving of the Declaration of the 4th of August last, and other Particulars, they will take them into Consideration, and will send an Answer by Messengers of their own.

Message from thence, with Orders.

A Message was brought from the House of Commons, by Mr. Jenner, &c.; who brought up divers Particulars passed the House of Commons, wherein they desire their Lordships Concurrence:

1. An Order for giving Power to the Commissioners at Goldsmithes Hall, to send for such Delinquents in Custody as have not paid their Fines of Compositions.

Agreed to, with some Alterations, wherein the Concurrence of the House of Commons is to be desired.

2. An Order for Mr. Fell and Mr. Mackworth to be Attornies of Chester, Flinte, Denbigh, and Mountgomery.

3. An Order for appointing Tho. Lloyd to be Sheriff of Cardiganshire. (Here enter it.)

That this House will take into Consideration the Order for giving Power to the Commissioners at Gouldsmithes Hall, and send an Answer by Messengers of their own: To the rest of the Particulars now brought up, this House agrees to them.

Col. Fenwick's Order.

An Order for Five Hundred for Colonel (fn. 2) John Fenwicke, was read, and passed. (Here enter it.)

Ordinance appointing Commissioners of the Great Seal.

The Ordinance for appointing Henry Earl of Kent, Sir Thomas Witherington Knight, and Bulstrode Whitlocke Esquire, to be Commissioners of the Great Seal of England, was read; and ordered to be taken into Consideration on Thursday Morning next, by the Committee of the whole House.

Ordinance for Fell and Mackworth to be Attornies for Chester and Flint, and for Denbigh and Montgomery.

"Be it Ordered and Ordained, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That Thomas Fell Esquire, Counsellor at Law, be Attorney General for the Counties of Chester and Flint; and that Humphry Mackworth Esquire, Learned in the Laws, be Attorney General for the Counties of Denbigh and Mountgom'y; and that they the said Mr. Fell and Mr. Mackworth shall and may, by themselves and their sufficient Deputies, respectively, hold and execute the said Offices and Places, during the Pleasure of both Houses of Parliament, and have and enjoy all such Rights, Fees, and Profits, as respectively belong to the said Places, in as ample Manner as any former Attorney Generals of the said Counties respectively have had, or of Right ought to have had and enjoyed; any Law, Statute, or Provision, to the contrary notwithstanding."

Lloyd to be Sheriff of Cardigan.

"The Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament do nominate and appoint Thomas Lloyd Esquire, Sheriff of the County of Cardigan; and that the Commissioners of the Great Seal do pass a Patent under the Great Seal, unto him, to be Sheriff, accordingly."

Order for 4016£. to Gen Brown.

"Be it Ordained, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the Sum of Four Thousand and Sixteen Pounds be paid, out of the Moiety of the Receipts at Goldsmiths Hall not engaged (in Course), unto Major General Richard Browne, his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, in Part of Nine Thousand and Sixteen Pounds, allowed to be paid unto him, in full Satisfaction of all Demands and Arrears due unto the said Major General Browne, as Major General and Governor of Abingdon; and the Treasurers for the Receipts of Monies at Gouldsmiths Hall for Compositions with Delinquents are hereby authorized and required to make Payment of the said Four Thousand and Sixteen Pounds accordingly; and the Receipt of the said Major General Browne, his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, shall be their sufficient Discharge in that Behalf."

Order for 5000£. more to him.

"Be it Ordained, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That Five Thousand Pounds be paid, in Course, out of the Receipts of the Grand Excise, unto Major General Richard Browne, his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, in Part of Nine Thousand and Sixteen Pounds, allowed to be paid unto him, in full Satisfaction of all Demands and Arrears due unto the said Major General Browne, as Major General and Governor of Abingdon; and the Commissioners of Excise for the Time being are hereby authorized and required to make Payment of the said Five Thousand Pounds accordingly; and the Receipt of the said Major General Browne, his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, shall be their sufficient Discharge in that Behalf."

Order for 1448£. to Col. Harvey.

"Be it Ordained, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That Fourteen Hundred Forty-eight Pounds be paid, in Course, out of the Receipts of the Grand Excise, unto Colonel Edmond Harvey, his Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, in full Satisfaction of all Demands and Arrears due unto him the said Colonel Harvey, as Major General and Colonel of Horse; and the Commissioners of Excise for the Time being are hereby authorized and required to make Payment of the said Fourteen Hundred Forty-eight Pounds accordingly; and the Receipt of the said Colonel Harvey, Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, to be their sufficient Discharge in that Behalf."

Order for 50£. to Aston.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That the Committee of Lords and Commons for Advance of Monies sitting at Habberdash'rs Hall do forthwith pay unto William Aston, a poor Soldier, that hath expressed eminent Affection to the Parliament, the Sum of Fifty Pounds."

Order for 350£. to Major Jackson.

"Ordered, by the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, That the Sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Pounds be allowed and paid unto Major Andrew Jackson, upon his Entertainment in the Service of the Parliament; and that One Hundred Seventy and Five Pounds thereof be forthwith paid, by the Committee of Lords and Commons for Advance of Monies at Habberdashers Hall, to the said Major Jackson, or his Assignee; and that the other Hundred and Seventy-five Pounds be charged upon the Moiety not engaged at Gouldsmiths Hall, in Course, and paid by the Treasurers there to the said Major Jackson, or his Assignee; and it is hereby especially recommended to the said Committees, respectively, to take speedy and effectual Course, that a Person of his Merit, and a Stranger, who hath served so faithfully in this Cause, and hath so long patiently expected Satisfaction for his Arrears, may not be further prejudiced by longer Attendance."

Order for 500£. for Col. Fenwick.

"Whereas the Sum of Five Hundred Pounds was, by former Order, appointed to be advanced and paid (fn. 3) to Colonel Roger Fenwick, in Part of his Entertainment, and referred to the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland at Derby House, to consider out of what Monies the said Five Hundred Pounds might be raised; the which Reference hath as yet taken no Effect: It is Ordered, by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That the said Sum of Five Hundred Pounds be paid to Colonel Roger Fenwicke, or his Assigns, out of such concealed Delinquents Estates as the said Colonel Fenwicke, or his Assigns, shall discover unto the Committee at Habberdash'rs Hall, or out of the Surplusage of such Delinquents Fines as have abused the Parliament by not giving in full and true Values of their Estates upon the making their Compositions, as the said Conel Roger Fenwick, or his Assigns, shall discover unto the Committee at Gouldsmiths Hall: And the said respective Committees are required to take Course for the bringing in the said Monies so discovered, and pay the same unto Colonel Roger Fenwick, or his Assigns, accordingly."
