Succentor of the cans. established as an office in perpetuity 13 Nov. 1230, with church of Tunstall (E.R.) annexed (Reg. Gray pp. 52-3). Succentor to deputise for prec. in his absence (ibid.).

Valuation

Occ. as succentor once, 4 Dec. 1264 (CPR 1258-66 p. 391). Not to be confused with M. Roger Pepin, subdean (list 6), nor with M. Roger Pepin vicar of Leeds who was ord. pr. 1274 (Reg. Giffard p. 197).

M. Thomas of Monkgate

Occ. as succentor, prob. of cans., 9 Feb. 1267, when appd. abp.'s official and deputy archdcn. of Richmond (Reg. Giffard pp. 178, 179). Also occ. as succentor 29 Dec. 1270 (ibid. p. 46) and 1264 × 21 June 1279 (Chs. Vicars Choral no. 125); and occ. without title, 1272 × 73 and c. 1280 (ibid. nos. 144, 466). Rector of Whixley (W.R.), occ. as abp.'s proctor 27 Dec. 1297 and 8 March 1298 (CPL I 574, 575 = Reg. Bon. VIII nos. 2191, 2237-8, 2434). Called subdean 13 Feb. 1299 (CPL I 580 = Reg. Bon.
