Bishop of Lincoln a Privilege.
The Petition of John Lord Bishop of Lincolne read; complaining, That a Writ of Inhibition was served on him in his Chapel, where he was at Divine Service, before the same was ended.
It was Ordered, The Proceeding in the said Inhibition to be stayed; and Edward Hilles, Leonard Aclom, and Doctor Farmerie, the said Bishop's Chancellor, to be sent for, to answer their Contempts herein.

Hodie Edwardus de Kymolton, Chr. was brought into the House, in his Parliament Robes, between the Lord Percie and the Lord Mountague (Garter going before); and, having delivered his Writ, kneeling, unto the Lord Keeper, when it was read, he was led to the Barons Bench, and placed next to the Lord (fn. 1)

In like Manner were brought in Oliver Tregoze de Heigworth, Chr. between the Lords Russell and Ley.

And Dudley Carleton de Imbercourte, Chr. between the Lords Cromewell and North; and were led to their due Places, delivering their Patents to the Lord Keeper, and their Writs to the Clerk.
Haines. versus Parham et al.
Upon the Petition of Thomas Haines, it was Ordered, John Parham, Francis Popley, Charles Crouch, and Richard Morris, to answer their Contempt to an Order made the last Parliament on Behalf of the said Haines.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, An Act for the enabling of the Right Honourable Dutton Lord Gerrard, Baron of Gerrard Bromley, to make a Jointure to any Wife which he shall hereafter marry, and to make Provision for any his younger Children; and for the better securing of Portions, and Limitation of Maintenance, for Allice Gerrard, Frances Gerrard, and Elizabeth Gerrard, Sisters of the said Dutton Gerrard, and Daughters of the late Right Honourable Gilberte Lord Gerrard, deceased.
Committee to take Examination of the Earl of Bristol's Cause.
Lords Committees appointed to take the Examinations of the Proofs and Witnesses concerning the King's Charge against the Earl of Bristol, and also concerning the said Earl's Defence: videlicet,
Lord Chief Justice, Lord Chief Baron, Mr. Baron Bromley, Mr. Justice Crooke; and any other of the Judges whom the Lords shall please to call, and all the King's Counsel, |

To meet on Thursday, the 25th of this May at Two in the Afternoon, in the Painted Chamber. And their Lordships have Power to subdivide themselves, if they please; and to meet after wards when they please, to take the said Examinations.
And it was Ordered, Mr. Attorney to begin on Thursday next to produce his Proofs and Witnesses, if he be ready; and the Earl of Bristol to produce his Proofs and Witnesses then also, if he will, or when he please. The Witnesses to be sworn in the open House.
D. of Bucks desires he may proceed to answer the Charge against him.
The Duke of Buckingham moved the House, That, if he shall be ready to answer the Complaint of the Commons before Mr. Attorney shall be ready to proceed in his Charge against the Earl of Bristol, that his Grace may not stay, but proceed to his Answer; which was granted.
That he may be allowed some of the King's Counsel.
And, That, if the King will give him Leave, he may then have some of the King's Counsel, who attend here. The Consideration whereof was referred to the Lords Committees for Privileges.
And that he may answer the Complaints severally.
His Grace further moved, That, considering his Charge consisteth of many Heads, he may be judged for each, as he shall be ready; to make his Answer after Examination. Which was agreed to be considered of in due Time, and then to be so disposed of as his Grace be not confounded with Multiplicity of Charges at one Time.
Adjourn.
