The Lord Steward presented unto the House Two Petitions;
The one of Augustine Coles, one of the Yeomen of His Majesty's Chamber in Ordinary, complaining, That whilst he was in His Majesty's Service at Dover, William Swetenam, John Birde, and Thomas Bertlett, Bailiffs, entered his House, and carried away Goods to the Value of Thirty Pounds, at the Suit of Michaell Harison, for a Debt (wherein he was Surety for Richard Cotle) of Ten Pounds, whereof Four Pounds is paid.

The like Habeas corpus, etc. is awarded, to bring Robert Browne before their Lordships.
Absent Lords, Motion for their paying.
The House being moved, That whereas those Lords that came late to Prayers do pay to the Poor Man's Box; videlicet, each Earl Two Shillings, and each Bishop and Baron One Shilling; and yet those Lords who are absent altogether that Day without Leave pay nothing; That it would please their Lordships to conceive some Order against the wilful Neglect of those that be absent: and that such might not only pay for themselves after the said Rate, but also for all those whose Proxies they have; for that the House doth not only lose the Votes of such absent Lords, but of their Proxies also. The which is referred to be considered of by the Lords Committees for Privileges, etc.
The Lord President reported to the House, That Yesterday the Lords Committees of both Houses delivered unto His Majesty the Petition (agreed on) for a General Fast; and that His Majesty's Answer was to this Effect: videlicet,
King's Answer to the Petition for the Fast.
"That the Message pleased Him very well; and this their Beginning with God promised Celerity in their Actions: That he liked of the Petition, required Time to consider of the Form and Manner of a Fast, and would appoint the same to be done speedily and effectually."
Committees for the Order, Customs, and Privileges of the House.
The Lords Committees for Privileges, etc. are to meet in the Painted Chamber, presently after the Adjournment of the House, and to name a Sub-committee.
