Bankrupts Bill.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for repealing a Clause in the Statute made in the Twentyfirst Year of the Reign of King James the First, intituled, An Act for the further Description of a Bankrupt, and Relief of Creditors against such as shall become Bankrupts; and for inflicting Corporal Punishment upon the Bankrupts, in some special Cases, which makes Descriptions of Bankrupts; and for the Explanation of the Laws relating to Bankruptcy, in case of Partnership."
Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Monday next, at Twelve a Clock.
Newcastle Hospital, Bill:
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the erecting a Corporation, for the speedy finishing the Hospital, and establishing, perpetuating, and Management, of the Charity of the Skippers and Keelmen of the Town and County of Newcastle upon Tyne."
Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House, on Friday next, at Twelve a Clock.
Hoastmen and Keelmen to be heard about it.
Upon reading the Petition of John Johnson, Henry Atkinson, and several others, of the Town and County of Newcastle upon Tyne, Hoastmen; as also the Petition of John Ker, Steward of the Keelmens Hospital at New castle, and John Meanes and Robert Haliburton, Two Keelmen, in Behalf of themselves and the whole Body of the said Keelmen; praying to be heard, by their Counsel, before the Bill for erecting a Corporation, for the speedy finishing the Hospital, and establishing, perpetuating, and Management, of the Charity of the Skippers and Keelmen of the Town and County of Newcastle upon Tyne, do pass:
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petitioners be referred to the Committee of the whole House, to whom the said Bill stands committed; and that the Petitioners be heard, by One Counsel on each Petition, before the said Committee, on Friday next, at Twelve a Clock; at which Time Counsel may also be heard for the said Bill.
Crawford versus Crawford:
After hearing Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal of John Crawford, an Infant, by Jane his Mother and Guardian, from a Sentence or Decree pronounced by the Lords of Council and Session in Scotland, the Nineteenth Day of July One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eleven, and by them adhered to after several Rehearings; the last of which was on the Eleventh Day of January following, on the Behalf of Archibald Crawford; and praying, "That the same may be set aside, and the Petitioner relieved:" As also upon the Answer of the said Archibald Crawford put in to the said Appeal; and due Consideration of what was offered thereupon:
Judgement affirmed, with Costs.
It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal shall be, and is hereby, dismissed this House; and that the Sentences or Decrees therein complained of shall be, and are hereby, affirmed: And it is further Ordered, That the Appellant shall pay, or cause to be paid, to the Respondent, the Sum of Forty Pounds, for his Costs in this House.
Western's Bill.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable William Western Esquire, an Infant, to make a Settlement of his Estate, upon his Marriage, notwithstanding his Infancy."
Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following; (videlicet,)
Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Saturday the Nineteenth Day of this Instant April, at Ten a Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.
Austen's Bill.
Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting the Inheritance of the Manor of Court at Weeke, and divers other Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, in the County of Kent, in Trustees, to be sold, for the Payment of the Debts and Legacies of Sir Robert Austen Baronet, deceased."
Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the same Committee to whom Mr. Western's Bill is referred.
