Anth. Stafford's Bill.

Hodie 2^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable Anthony Stafford Gentleman to fell or mortgage some Part of his Lands and Hereditaments, in the Counties of Derby and Chester, for the Payment of his Father's Debts and his own; and the better settling the rest, for the Benefit of his Wife and Children."

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords following; (videlicet,)

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet on Friday the First Day of April next, at Ten a Clock in the Forenoon, in the Prince's Lodgings near the House of Peers; and to adjourn as they please.

Sir John Bolles Bill.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for Payment of the Debts of Sir John Bolles Baronet, a Lunatic."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Elye's Bill.

Hodie 3^a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable John Elye Esquire to raise Monies out of his Estate, to pay his Debts; and for settling the Residue thereof, together with the Estate of Elizabeth his Wife, to the Uses intended by his Marriage Settlement."

The Question was put, "Whether this Bill shall pass?"

It was Resolved in the Affirmative.

Message to H. C. with it, and Sir John Bolles's Bill.

A Message was sent to the House of Commons, by Sir Richard Holford and Mr. Pitt:

To carry down the abovesaid Two Bills, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

L. Willoughs, by de Broke's Bill.

The Earl of Derby reported from the Lords Committees, the Bill, intituled, "An Act to explain a Clause in a Statute made in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Reign of King Henry the Eighth, enabling Tenants in Tail in Possession to make Jointures to Wives; and enlarging the same so as Richard Lord Willughby de Broke and other Tenants in Tail in Possession may make Jointures to the Wives of their Eldest Sons or Grandsons," as fit to pass, with One Amendment.

Which was read Twice, and agreed to; and the Bill ordered to be engrossed, with the said Amendment.

Standing Order for Fourteen Days Notice before Commitment of Private Bills, not to be dispensed with.

The House taking into Consideration the Order made Yesterday, relating to shortening the Time of Committees for meeting on Private Bills;

And Debate thereupon:

The Question was put, "Whether that Part of the Standing Order of the Twentieth of April One Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-eight, which relates to the Fourteen Days Commitment of Private Bills, shall be dispensed with, for the Residue of this Session of Parliament?"

It was Resolved in the Negative.

Herne & al. Clerks of the Enrolments in Chancery versus Middlesex Register Bill.

Upon reading the Petition of Basil Herne, John Luffield, John Highlord, Nathanael Barnardiston, William Lamb, Thomas Milner, John Dawling, Daniel Bland, and Edward Bulstrode Esquires, the present Clerks of the Enrolment of the Court of Chancery; praying to be heard, by their Counsel, before the passing of the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the public registering all Deeds, Conveyances, and Wills, which shall be made of, or that may affect, any Honours, Manors, Lands, Tenements, or Hereditaments, in the County of Middl'x, after the Day of."

It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Petitioners shall be heard, by their Counsel, in the Committee of the whole House to whom the said Bill stands committed, To-morrow, at Twelve a Clock, according to the Prayer of the Petition.

Bill for Improvement of the Union.

The House (pursuant to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act for the improving the Union of the Two Kingdoms."

After some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Lord Bishop of Salisbury reported, "That the Committee of the whole House had made some Progress in the Bill; and desire another Time may be appointed, for the House to proceed therein."

Ordered, That this House be put into a Committee again To-morrow, to proceed further on the said Bill; and that all the Lords be summoned; and the Judges to attend.
