House to attend the Queen with the Address.
The Lord Steward reported, "That he had attended her Majesty, as ordered, to know what Time Her Majesty will please to appoint, for this House to attend Her with their Address; and that Her Majesty was pleased to appoint this Day, at Two a Clock, to be attended therewith, at Kensington."
Cheeke's Bill.
Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to vest the Estate late of Edward Cheeke Esquire, deceased, in Somersetshire, remaining unsold at his Death, in Trustees, to be sold, to satisfy the Demands of the Lady Russel his Mother, and Essex Cheeke his Sister; and to vest the Remainder of the Monies arising by Sale of the said Estate in the Purchase of other Lands, to be settled on Edward Cheeke, an Infant, and his Heirs."
Message from H. C. with a Bill.
A Message from the House of Commons, by Mr. Freman and others:
Who brought up a Bill, intituled, "An Act for the better preventing Bribery and Corruption, and other undue Practices, in electing Members to serve in Parliament;" to which they desire the Concurrence of this House.
Gregg and Clerke, Report about, to be made.
The House being informed, "That the Lords Committees appointed to examine William Gregg and Alexander Clerke, alias Valiere, are ready to make their Report:"
It is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Report shall be made To-morrow.
Return of Peers of Scotland, Bill to settle, and Trials of Peers for Offences committed there.
Then the House was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to make further Provision for the electing and summoning Sixteen Peers of Scotland, to sit in the House of Peers in the Parliament of Great Britain, and for trying Peers for Offences committed in Scotland."
After some Time, the House was resumed.
And the Lord Bishop of Salisbury reported, "That the Committee of the whole House had made some Progress in the Bill; and desire another Time may be appointed, for the House to be in a Committee again, to proceed therein."
Ordered, That the House be put into a Committee again, to proceed further therein, on Wednesday next, at Twelve a Clock.
Sir R. Milbanke's Bill.
This Day the Judges brought in their Report, upon the Bill, intituled, "An Act to enable Sir Ralph Milbanke Baronet, to make a Jointure and Settlement upon such Woman as he shall marry, as if he were of full Age."
Ordered, That the said Report do lie on the Table, to be perused by the Lords.
Robinson et al. versus Fugill:
After hearing Counsel, upon the Petition and Appeal of Jane Robinson, Mary Robinson, and Charles Robinson, from several Decrees made in the Court of Exchequer, the Five and Twentieth Day of June One Thousand Seven Hundred and Six, and the Fifteenth Day of May last; thereby praying, "That Jon'th'n Fugill may answer thereunto, and stand the Judgement of this House touching the Matters therein complained of:" As also upon the Answer of the said Jonathan Fugill put in thereunto; and due Consideration of what was offered thereupon:
Judgement affirmed.
It is Ordered and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition and Appeal of Jane Robinson, Mary Robinson, and Charles Robinson, shall be, and is hereby, dismissed this House; and that the several Decrees therein complained of shall be, and they are hereby, affirmed.
Adjourn.
