Making Sea Water fresh.

A BILL for making Sea Water fresh, clear, and wholesome, was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read the Second time.

Powell's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the settling the Manor of King's North, for the enabling Barnham Powell, Esquire, to make Provision for his younger Children, was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Sale of Lands in Lincolne, &c.

An ingrossed Bill from the Lords, intituled, An Act for the clearing and removing some Doubts which may arise in an Act for the vesting several Manors, Lands, and Rents, in the Counties of Lincolne, Berks, and Devon, in Trustees, to be sold, for the buying other Manors and Lands, to be settled for the same or the like Uses, as those to be sold are now settled, was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be agreed to.

Ordered, That Sir Robert Cotton do carry the Bill to the Lords; and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the same, without any Amendments.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Pawlet have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Sir Edward Seymour presented to the House a Bill for Increase and Preservation of Timber within the New Forest, in the County of Southampton. And the same was received.

Royal Mines

A Bill for Removing of Doubts, and preventing Controversies, concerning Royal Mines, and that the King may have the Pre-emption, was read the Second time.

A Motion being made, and the Question being put, That the Bill be committed to a Committee of the whole House;

It passed in the Negative.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Miles Cook and Sir Adam Ottley;

Smith's Estate.

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have passed a Bill, intituled, An Act for the Sale of Lands by Sir Robert Smith, and settling other Lands of a greater Value to the same Uses, in lieu thereof: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Disposition by Will in York.

Also the Lords have agreed to the Bill, intituled, An Act, That the Inhabitants of the Province of York may dispose of their Personal Estates by their Wills, notwithstanding the Custom of that Province, without any Amendments.

And then the Messengers withdrew.

Supply Bill; Land Tax.

Then the House, according to the Order of the Day, proceeded in the further Consideration of the Report of the Bill for granting to their Majesties an Aid of Four Shillings in the Pound for One Year.

And several other of the Amendments to the said Bill were read a Second time; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Amendment, F. 34, L. 2, touching the Lands belonging to Colleges and Halls being exempted from the said Tax, being read a Second time;

The Question was put, That the House do agree with the Committee in the said Amendment:

The House divided.

The Noes go forth.

So it passed in the Negative.

And the Residue of the said Amendments being read a Second time, some of them were, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed, and others disagreed, unto by the House.

And several Amendments to the Bill were proposed, and agreed unto by the House; and made in the Chair.

Also the House took into Consideration the postponed Lists of Commissioners for the Counties of Carnarvon and Merioneth.

And the same were, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

A Clause was offered to be added to the Bill, for their Majesties to nominate Commissioners, having per Ann. Real Estate in the Counties for which they serve, in case there shall not be a sufficient Number of Commissioners named for any County, who shall be capable of acting according to the Qualifications of the Act: And the same was twice read.

Resolved, That the Blank be filled up with "One hundred Pounds."

And the Question being put, That the Clause be made Part of the Bill;

So it was resolved in the Affirmative.

Another Clause was offered to be added to the Bill.

Another Clause was offered to be added to the Bill, for appropriating Part of the Money upon the said Bill to the Use of the Navy.

And a Debate arising touching the Second Reading the said Clause;

Resolved, That the said Debate be adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eleven a Clock.

Ordered, That Mr. Attorney General, Mr. Paul Foley, Sir Chr. Musgrave, Mr. Smith, do prepare and bring in, To-morrow Morning, a Clause of Appropriation to be added to the said Bill.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight a Clock.
