Prayers.

JOHN Drye and Gerrard Maysken took the Oaths at the Table, in order to their Naturalization.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Vaughan have Leave to go into the Country for a Fortnight.

Rogerson's Nat.

Mr. Christy reports from the Committee to whom the Bill for Naturalizing of John Rogerson was referred, That they had examined the Matters mentioned in the Bill, and found them to be true; and that therefore they had agreed to the Bill without any Alteration.

Ordered, That the Bill be ingrossed.

Five in Southwark.

A Petition of the poor Sufferers by the Fire, which happened in September last in the Borough of Southwark, was read; setting forth, That the Petitioners have not only lost above Forty substantial Dwelling Houses and Inns, but also several Thousand Pounds in Goods, Merchandizes, and Wares; yet notwithstanding, now the said Houses come to be rebuilt, the chief Landlords cruelly refuse to allow any reasonable Consideration towards the same; many of the Petitioners having Leases of short Terms, for which they paid great Fines; and therefore to lose their Leases, or to take up Money to build, will consequently bring them and their Families to Ruin: And whereas, after the great Fire, Two Acts of Parliament were made, one the Nineteenth, and the other the Twentyninth . . . ., for the determining all Differences between Landlord and Tenant about Rebuildings; and Commissioners appointed for the same; both which Acts had very good Effects, preventing many Suits and Delays: And praying Leave to bring in a Bill to the same Effect, as the last-mentioned Act for the Borough of Southwarke was enacted and provided for.

But nothing done thereupon.

London Orphans.

Resolved, That the House do upon Tuesday Morning, resolve into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of Ways to raise Monies to satisfy the Debt due to the Orphans of the City of London.

Supply Bill; Land Tax.

An ingrossed Bill for granting an Aid to their Majesties of Two Shillings in the Pound, for One Year, was read the Third time.

An Amendment was proposed to be made in Press 128, Line *, by leaving out "supplying," and instead thereof inserting "supplied, and to be supplied:" And

All which were, upon the Question put thereupon, agreed unto by the House: And the Bill amended at the Table accordingly.

An ingrossed Clause, as a Rider, was offered to be made Part of the Bill, for appropriating the Monies granted by the said Bill for particular Uses; to appropriate the same to pay for the Victuals and Stores already provided and to be provided for the Navy, and for Payment of Seamens Wages; and shall not be diverted to any other Use.

And the Question being put, That the same be read;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act for a Grant to their Majesties of Two Shillings in the Pound, for One Year.

Ordered, That Mr. Solicitor General do carry up the Bill to the Lords, and desire their Concurrence thereunto.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be revived, to sit this Afternoon.

Supply Bill; collecting Revenue.

Resolved, That the House do, upon Friday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of the Bill for the Continuance of the collecting the Publick Revenue, for One Year, from Christmas next.
