To attend the Lords. |
Appointed to meet at the Little Chamber, near the Parliament Presence, upon Monday, the 23d of this Instant, by Eight of the Clock in the Morning. The Bill delivered to the Lord Archbishop of Yorke.
Message.
The Union.
Message to the Lower House, by Serjeant Crooke and Dr. Hone: To let them know, that the Lords have entered into Consideration of those Things which have already passed in Conference touching the Union: That the Two First Points, concerning Hostile Laws and Commerce, have been handled, but not perfected: That the Third Point, touching Naturalization, wholly remaineth to be, in like Sort, considered of in Conference; which being done, both Houses may the better consider likewise what further Course may be taken, for proceeding and making of Bills meet for the Business. The Lords therefore do move them to a new Conference, by the same Committees, and at the same Place of Meeting, at the Outward Chamber, which the Lords wish to be upon Monday in the Afternoon, Two of the Clock, if they shall like of it.
Answer returned, That they will consider of the Message, and forthwith return Answer by Messengers of their own.
Answer brought by Sir John Fortescu and others:
Answer.
That they have considered of the Message touching the Conference, wherein they are likewise desirous of Expedition; but because, until this present Day, Consideration had not been taken by that House of that which passed between the Committees of both Houses, before the Recess at the last Sitting, touching the Two First Points, concerning Hostile Laws and Commerce; and that the Third, of Naturalization, had not been as yet in any Speech at all amongst them, whereby they find not themselves sufficiently provided for Meeting and Conference therein; they desire therefore, that they may take further Consideration of these Things, and then they will give Knowledge thereof to the Lords, that a Time of Meeting and Conference may be accordingly agreed on.
Adjourn.
Dominus Cancellarius continuavit præsens Parliamentum usque in diem Lunæ, videlicet, 16m Februarii, hora 9a.
