Ld. Norreis' Estate.

ORDERED, That the ingrossed Bill concerning the Lord Norreis be read forthwith, after the Report of the Bill for Rebuilding the City of London is dispatched.

Rebuilding London.

Mr. Steward reports from the Committee to which the Bill for rebuilding the City was committed, several Alterations, Additions, and Amendments, to be made and added to the Bill: Which he read in his Place; and after, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table.

Impeachment of Ld. Mordant.

Ordered, That the Persons appointed to manage the Evidence upon the Articles of Impeachment against the Lord Viscount Mordant, do proceed therein according to the Precedent of the Lord Cranfeild.

Message from the King.

Mr. Secretary Morice acquaints the House, That his Majesty had declared himself as much concerned in the Desolation of the City, as those that were the Inhabitants of it: And therefore, moved by his own Goodness, and incited by an Address from the City, his Majesty was pleased to continue the Session for a Day or Two further; and desired the House would apply themselves to the Dispatch of those Bills which concerned the City.

Impeachment of Ld. Mordant.

The Members appointed to mangage the Evidence upon the Articles of Impeachment against the Lord Viscount Mordant, being returned from the Lords;

Sir Robert Atkins reports, That, according to the Appointment of this House, they had attended that Service: And, having proceeded to the Reading of the Articles, did observe, That, during the Reading of them, the Lord Mordant was within the Bar of the Lord's House; and therefore moved their Lordships, That, according to former Precedents in such Proceedings, he might stand without the Bar of the House. When one appeared as Counsel for him, beginning to plead in this Matter, they thought fit to interrupt him; acquainting their Lordships, that his Lordship ought not to have any Counsel assigned him to plead for him in Matter of Fact, upon the Impeachment. Whereupon their Lordships commanded them to withdraw: And, being afterwards called in again, Their Lordships acquainted them, That they had referred it to their Committee of Privileges, to search former Precedents in Proceedings of this Nature; and to report it on Monday Morning.

Poll Bill.

Ordered, That Leave be given for the bringing in a Bill for supplying and Clearing of that Clause in the Act for Poll-money, for charging of every Person at Twelve-pence the Head.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee formerly appointed to examine the Poll Bill, with the Amendments; and to see if it cohered, and was rightly ingrossed; to compare the printed Act with the Roll, whether it be truly printed; and to consider, if the same be defective; and report the same to the House.

Rebuilding London.

The House proceeded upon the Amendments and Alterations reported to be made to the Bill for rebuilding the City: Which being read; and all the Amendments, to the Amendment, Folio Sixteenth, Line the Nineteenth, being twice read; were, upon the Question severally agreed to.

The Question being put, To agree with the Amendment for inserting a Clause, Folio Sixteenth, Line the Nineteenth, for securing the Artificers and Labourers from bearing Arms at Land or Sea;

It passed in the Negative.

The rest of the Amendments, to Folio Twenty-ninth, Line Twentieth, being read the Second time, was, upon the Question, severally agreed to.

The Amendment for Addition of a Clause, marked D D, was read the Second time.

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee in that Part of the Clause concerning the Number of Churches to be rebuilt;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee in the rest of the Clause for Disposing of the Sites of Churches not to be rebuilt;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That the further Proceeding, upon the Amendments to the said Bill, be adjourned till Monday Morning, Nine of the Clock.

Bills to be read.

Ordered, That the ingrossed Bills concerning Bedford Level, the Lord Norreis, and for Provision for poor Prisoners, be read on Monday Morning, before the Debate of the Amendments to the Bill concerning the City be resumed.
