Prayers.

Leave of Absence.

ORDERED, That Sir Richard Edgcombe have the Leave of this House to go into the Country, to attend the Funeral of Mr. Edgcombe, his Father, lately deceased.

Newport Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker, do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a Writ for electing a new Member to serve for the Borough of Newport in the County of Cornwall, instead of Mr. Edgcombe, deceased.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Bagnall have the Leave of this House to go into the Country.

Plympton Writ.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Clerk of the Crown, to make out a Writ, for electing a new Member to serve for the Borough of Plympton in the County of Devon, instead of Sir Edmond Fortescue, lately deceased.

A Message from the Lords by Sir Justinian Lewen and Sir Moundeford Brampston;

Bills, &c. from Lords.

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent you down a Bill, intituled, An Act to enable Leicester Grosvenor, and his Trustees, to sell certain Lands for Payment of Debts: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House. They have also commanded us to acquaint you, That they have agreed to the Bill concerning the Earl of Cleeveland: And do desire a present Conference with this House, in the Painted Chamber, on the Bill concerning the Encouraging of Coinage: And have returned you the Bill concerning the Lord Strangford, with one Amendment.

The Messengers were called in: And Mr. Speaker acquaints them, That the House had agreed to a present Conference.

Ordered, That Sir Solom. Swale, Mr. Seymour, Mr. Pryn, Mr Buscawen, Sir Thom. Gower, Sir Geo. Downing, Sir Wm. Lowther, Sir Robert Carr, Mr. Onslow, Mr. Steward, Sir Thom. Littleton, Sir Thom. Meeres, be appointed to manage the Conference.

Sir Geo. Downing reports from the Conference had with the Lords, upon the Bill concerning Coinage, That the Lord Anglesey did manage the Conference; and that there was delivered, at the Conference, a Paper of the Particulars, wherein the Lords did agree or disagree in the Amendments sent from this House: Which Paper he read.

And the same being twice read; and this House agreeing with the Lords;

Ordered, That the Bill be amended according to the Particulars agreed; and returned to the Lords.

The Amendment to the Lord Strangford's Bill was twice read; and, on the Question, agreed.

Russell's Estate.

Sir John Talbott reports from the Committee to which the Bill for Sale of an House in Cheswick, for Payment of the Debts of Edw. Russell Esquire, was committed, some Amendments agreed to be made to the Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence; and delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table. And the Amendments, being twice read, were, on the Question, severally agreed to.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be ingrossed.

Prisoners Relief.

Serjeant Mainard reports from the Committee to which the Bill for Relief of poor Prisoners was committed, some Amendments agreed to be made; a Proviso to be added; and also an enacting Clause concerning the County of Devon; to be made Part of the Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence; and after, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table. And the Amendments and Proviso were twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed.

But the enacting Clause, as to the County of Devon, being twice read;

And some Debate arising thereupon;

Resolved, &c. That the Bill and enacting Clause be recommitted to the former Committee, or any Three of them, upon the present Debate: And the Committee is revived; and to meet, in the Place formerly appointed.

Winchelsea Election.

The House then resumed the Matter of Debate of the Election for the Port of Winchelsea.

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee of Elections, That the Return, made by the Mayor of Winchelsea of the Election of Mr. Austin to serve for that Place was not good; but the Election void;

The House was divided.

The Noes went out.
