Lee's Estate.

A Bill to enable Thomas Lee to dispose of Lands for Payment of Debts was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be read a Second time.

Suits arising from Fire of London.

A Bill for present Prevention of Suits by Landlords against their Tenants, whose Houses were burnt in the late and sad Fire, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be committed to Sir Charles Harbord, Colonel Reames, Lord Allington, Colonel Sandys, Sir Clifford Clifton, Mr. Crouch, Mr. John Sicklemore, Mr. Daniell, Sir John Knight, Mr. Clarke, Sir Thom. Allen, Sir Solom. Swale, Mr. Rigby, Sir Edw. Masters, Mr. Sandys, Sir Thom. Tompkins, Doctor Burrell, Sir Hen. Wood, Mr. Noell, Mr. Jones, Sir John Heath, Mr. Musgrave, Mr. Dowdeswell, Sir Lanc. Lake, Sir Fran. Goodrick, Mr. Onslow, Mr. Hardes, Sir Geo. Reeves, Mr. Morice, Sir Thom. Clifford, Sir John Goodrick, Sir John Newton, Mr. Westphaling, Mr. Onslow, Sir Wm. Call of the House.

Resolved, &c. That the House be called over on Tomorrow Sevennight: And that such Members as shall make Default in Attendance, unless there be just Cause shewed for their Absence, such as the House shall allow, be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, to answer their Neglect.

House to receive the Sacrament.

Ordered, That the House will, on Sunday come Sevennight next, receive the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, in Saint Margarett's Church, Westminster, according to the Form prescribed in the Liturgy in the Church of England: And that Sir Anthony Cope, Sir John Brampston, Sir Phillip Warwick, Sir John Goodrick, Sir Allen Broadrick, and Sir Geo. Reeve, be appointed to take notice of all such Persons as shall then and there receive the Sacrament: And that every Member shall then bring with him a Note, in Writing, of his Name, and the Shire whereof he is a Knight, the City whereof he is a Citizen, the Borough whereof he is a Burgess, or the Port whereof he is a Baron: Which Note he shall, upon Demand, deliver to the said Parties before particularly mentioned, some or one of them: And Doctor Outrim, Rector of St. Margaret's, and Mr. Wootton, Chaplain to this House, are desired to officiate that Day; and one of them to preach in the Morning, and the other in the Afternoon.

Canary Patent.

Mr. Edw. Seymour reports from the Committee to which the Petition of Wm. Clapham, George Smith, and other Merchants, on the Behalf of themselves, and others, formerly trading to the Canary Islands, was committed; and to whom it was referred, to look into the Conveniency or Inconveniency of the present Corporation; and to send for their Charter; and to look into the former Laws against Monopolies; and certify the Matter to the House; That the Committee had met several Days, and taken great Pains in Examination of the Matter referred: And, after he had made a Narrative of the whole Proceedings at large, declared, That, upon the Reading and Debating of the Patent of the Canary Company, and upon full Hearing of Counsel on both Sides, it was the Opinion of the Committee, That the said Patent was an illegal Patent, a Monopoly, and a Grievance to the Subject.

A Petition of the Governor and Company of the Merchants trading to the Canary Islands was read.

The Question being put, To agree in Opinion with the Committee, That the Patent of the Canary Company is an illegal Patent, a Monopoly, and a Grievance to the Subject;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Resolved, &c. That his Majesty be humbly moved to call in the Patent of the Canary Company.

Resolved, &c. That the Lords Concurrence is desired to these Votes: And that Mr. Seymour go up to the Lords for their Concurrence.

The Question being propounded, That an Impeachment be drawn up against the Patentees;

The Question being put, That the Question be now put;

It passed in the Negative.

Message from the King.

Mr. Secretary Morice delivers a Message, in Writing, from his Majesty: Which was read by the Speaker.

Resolved, &c. That this House do lay aside all other Business till That of the King's Supply be settled.

Leave of Absence.

Resolved, &c. That Sir Thomas Dolman have Leave to go into the Country for a Week.

Committee of Elections.

Resolved, That Sir John Monson, Sir Humfry Bennet, Sir Wm. Hickman, Mr. Collins, be added to the Committee of Elections.
