Privilege.

ORDERED, That Timothy Remington be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, or his Deputy, for his Breach of Privilege, in causing Sir John Hotham, a Member of this House, to be served with a Process of Subpæna, out of the Court of Chancery.

Outwood Common.

A Bill for inclosing the Common of Outwood, in Wakefeild, in the County of York, was read the Second time.

Mildmay's Estate.

Plymton Election.

Sir Job Charlton reports from the Committee of Elections, That the Committee had examined the Matter touching the Election for the Town of Plymton between Sir Edmond Fortescue and Sir Nicholas Slaning: That there were Two Indentures returned under the Common Seal of the Town of Plymton; by one of which Sir Edmond Fortescue is returned; and by the other Sir Nicholas Slaning: But that the pretended Indenture by which Sir Nicholas Slaning is returned, doth contain in it an absurd and unusual Clause, to this Effect; viz. "That Sir Nicholas is returned to serve, so as the Parliament and Committee of Privileges shall approve of it:" And, besides, the original Indenture is not returned, but only a pretended Counter-part; So that the Committee were of Opinion, That the Return was not double; and that Sir Edmond Fortescue ought to sit, till the Merits of the Cause be heard and determined.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree with ... Committee of Elections, That the Return for the Town of Plymton is not double; And that Sir Edmond Fortescue ought to sit, till the Merits of the Cause be determined.

Resolved, &c. That John Keland High Sheriff of the County of Devon, be sent for in the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, or his Deputy; for his Misdemeanor and Abuse, in making the Returns for the Town of Plymton.

Resolved, &c. That Edward Hayman, Under Sheriff in the County of Devon, be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, or his Deputy; for his Misdemeanor and Abuse, in making the Returns for the Town of Plymton.

Resolved, &c. That Nicholas Horsman, Mayor of the Town of Plymton, be sent for in the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, or his Deputy; for his Misdemeanor and Abuse, in making the Returns for the Town of Plymton.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in to prevent Abuses in Returns and Elections of Members to serve in Parliament; and it is referred to Serjeant Mainard, Mr. Street, and Mr. Pryn, to prepare and bring in a Bill.

Supply.

Ordered, That the House do resolve into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed in the Consideration of his Majesty's Supply.

And accordingly Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

And Mr. Millward took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Mr. Millward reports That the Committee had received, from their Sub Committee, the Heads of an Imposition on sealed Papers and Parchments, proposed to be Part of the Compensation in lieu of Chimney Money; and the Estimate of the yearly Value thereof: But the Committee thought not fit to proceed therein; for that the Sum to be raised by Sale of Chimney Money was not ascertained; and therefore humbly moved, That the House would ascertain the same.

Resolved, &c. That the House agree with the Committee which brought in the Estimate of Chimney Money, That two hundred thousand Pounds a Year is a reasonable Estimate for the Chimney Money.
