Prayers.

Regulating the Press.

A BILL for Continuance of a former Act, for preventing Abuses in printing seditious, treasonable, and unlicensed Books; and for regulating of Printing, and Printing Presses; was read the Second time.

And no Exception being taken thereto;

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be ingrossed.

Navigable Rivers.

Sir Humphry Winch reports from the Committee to which the ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, for making divers Rivers navigable, or otherwise passable, for Boats, Barges, and other Vessels, some Amendments agreed to be made, and Provisoes to be added to the Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence, in his Place; and after, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: Which Amendments and Provisoes were twice read; and, upon the Question, severally agreed to.

Another Proviso, for saving the Rights of the City of London, was tendered.

Ordered, That the Word "to" be inserted, instead of "or," in the Proviso.

The Question being put, That the Proviso be added, and made Part of the Bill;

It passed in the Negative.

Reversing Stanley's Attainder.

Lord Ancram reports from the Committee to which the Bill for reversing the Attainder of Sir Charles Stanley, Knight of the Bath, touching the Death of George Symmonds, was committed, That the Committee had carefully perused the Bill, and found no Error therein; and had returned the Bill, without any Amendment.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be ingrossed.

Debtors Relief.

Mr. Milward reports from the Committee to which the Bill for Relief of poor Prisoners, was committed, some Amendments to be made, and a Proviso to be added, to the Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence, in his Place; and after, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table.

The Amendments were twice read; and all of them, except the Amendments to the * Line of the First Folio, and to the Sixteenth Line of the Seventh Folio, which were, upon the Question, received, were, upon the Second reading, upon the Question, severally agreed to.

A Proviso was twice read.

The Question being put, That the Proviso be added to, and made Part of, the Bill;

It passed in the Negative.

Ordered, That Mr. Milward have Leave to bring in some Provisoes, ingrossed, to be added to the Bill.

A Proviso, to make the Bill temporary for Three Years, was twice read.

Resolved, &c. That the Proviso be added to, and made Part of the Bill.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill, with the Amendments and Provisoes agreed to, be ingrossed.

A Message from the Lords, by * * * *;

Hertfordshire Roads.

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent you down the Act for continuing of a former Act, for repairing the Highways within the County of Hertford; with some Amendments, and a Proviso: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

And that the Lords have also commanded us to acquaint you, That they have agreed to the Amendment, made by this House, to the Bill for enabling the Lord Loughborough to make a River navigable in Surrey.

Salt Marshes.

An ingrossed Bill for settling Salt Marshes, was read the Third time.

Resolved, &c. That the Word "Seven" be made "Two," in * Line of * Skin, and in the * Line of * Skin.

Resolved, &c. That the Words "and Your Majesty, Your Heirs and Successors, in the Reversion of the same," be inserted, in the * Line of the * Skin, after the Words " * *."

Resolved, &c. That, in the * Line of the * Skin, the Word "deriving" be made "having."

Resolved, &c. That, in the * Line of the * Skin, these Words, viz. "from Your Majesty, or Your Majesty's Royal Progenitors," be left out.

A Proviso tendered, for saving the Rights of Sir John Levingston to Marsh Lands in Sutton Gedney, was thrice read; and, upon the Question, agreed to, and made Part of the Bill.

A Proviso, for saving the king's Right in the Soil of the Port of Plymouth, was thrice read; and, upon the Question, agreed to, and made Part of the Bill.

A Proviso, on the Behalf of Sir Henry Worseley, for saving his Rights in Breading Haven in the Isle of Wight, was thrice read; and, upon the Question, agreed to, and made Part of the Bill.

A Proviso, for saving the Rights of the Heirs of * Dymock to his Lands in Sutton and Gedney, was thrice read; and, upon the Question, agreed to, and made Part of the Bill.

A Proviso concerning Bedford Level, was thrice read; and, upon the Question, agreed to, and made Part of the Bill.

A Proviso, for Sir Wm. Stroude to be added to the Proviso concerning Plymouth Soil, tendered; and thrice read; and, upon the Question, agreed to, and made Part of the Bill.

The Question being put, That the Bill do pass;

The Yeas went out.

And so it was resolved in the Affirmative: And that the Title shall be, An Act for settling Marsh Lands deserted by, or gained from, the Sea.
