Prayers.

Petition from Canterbury.

A PETITION of the Mayor, Aldermen, and Common Council of the City of Canterbury, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the said Petition be committed to the Committee appointed for the Improvement and Advance of Trade; to consider the Matter of the Petition; and report the same, with their Opinions therein, to the House.

Armin's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, for the Sale of the Manor of Ingoldesby in the County of Lincolne, for raising Portions for the Two Daughters and Coheirs of Sir William Armin the younger, Baronet, deceased, was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time To-morrow Morning, the First Bill.

Delays in Executions.

A Bill to prevent Delays in Executions was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time To-morrow Morning.

Keyte's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill to enable the Trustees for Sir Wm. Keyte to sell Lands, for the Payment of Debts, was read.

Resolved, That the said Bill do pass: And that the Title shall be, An Act to enable Trustees for Sir William Keyte to sell Lands for the Payment of Debts.

And Mr. Coventry is to carry up the Bill to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Damage Cleere.

An ingrossed Bill to take away Damage Cleere was read.

A Proviso on the Behalf of the Counties Palatines of Lancaster and Chester, was read.

The Question being put, That the Proviso be read the Second time;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title shall be, An Act to take away Damage Cleere.

Malverne Chace.

An ingrossed Bill for Confirmation of the Inclosure and Improvement of Malverne Chace, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title shall be, An Act for Confirmation of the Inclosure and Improvement of Malverne Chace.

And Mr. Coventry is to carry up the Bill to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Glemham's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill for Sale of certain Lands, for Payment of the Debts of Sir Sackvile Glemham, was read.

A Proviso was tendered to be added to the Bill; and twice read; and an Amendment agreed, upon the Question, to be made thereto.

Which was done.

Resolved, That the Bill, with the Proviso agreed to, do pass: And that the Title shall be, An Act for Sale of certain Lands, for the Payment of the Debts of Sir Sackvile Glemham.

Cotton's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill to enable Charles Cotton Esquire to make Leases of Lands, for Payment of Debts, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title shall be, An Act to enable Charles Cotton Esquire to make Leases of Lands for Payment of Debts.

Bedford Level.

An ingrossed additional Bill to supply and explain a former Act for the Draining of the Great Level of the Fens, called Bedford Level, was read.

And an Amendment agreed; upon the Question; and made at the Table;

A Proviso was tendered to be added to the Bill; in relation to the Isle of Ely; and thrice read; and, on the Question, agreed.

Resolved, That the Bill, with the Proviso agreed to, do pass: And that the Title shall be, An additional Act to explain and supply a former Act for settling the Draining of the Great Level of the Fens, called Bedford Level.

And Sir Thomas Littleton is to carry up the Bill to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Colfe's Charities.

An ingrossed Bill for settling the charitable Gift of Abraham Colfe Clerk, for erecting and endowing Two Free Schools and an Alms House at Lewisham in Kent, was read.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass: And that the Title shall be, An Act for settling the charitable Gift of Abraham Colfe Clerk, for erecting and endowing Two Free Schools and an Alms House at Lewisham in Kent.

Cottington's Estate.

An ingrossed Bill to enable Francis Cottington, or Charles Cottington, to settle and dispose of Lands in Jointure, for any Wife or Wives they shall take in Marriage, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill do pass: And that the Title shall be, An Act to enable Francis Cottington, and Charles Cottington, to settle and dispose of Lands in Jointure, for any Wife or Wives they shall take in Marriage.

And Colonel Reames is to carry up the Bill to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Regulating Printing.

A Bill to continue an Act, intituled, An Act for preventing the frequent Abuses in printing seditious, treasonable, and unlicenced, Books and Pamphlets; and for Regulating of Printing and Printing Presses; was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill be ingrossed.

Church Lands.

An ingrossed Bill for apportioning Rents, and preventing concurrent Leases by Bishops, and other Ecclesiastical Persons, was read.

The Question being put, That the Bill do pass;

It passed in the Negative.

Ministers Maintenance.

Ordered, That Sir Thomas Meres his Report from the Committee to which the Bill for Increase of the Maintenance of Ministers in Cities, Towns Corporate, and Market Towns, be heard To-morrow Morning.

Pluralities.

Sir Thomas Meres reports from the Committee to which the Bill against Pluralities was committed, That the Committee had made some Amendments to the said Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence, in his Place; and after, delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table.

Resolved, That the Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be ingrossed.

Partition of Lands.

Sir Thomas Higgons reports from the Committee to which the Bill touching the Partition of Lands was committed, That the Committee had agreed some Amendments to be made to the Bill; and had, in pursuance of the Order of this House, agreed a Clause to be added to the Bill, to make the Lessee prove his Lives in being: Which he read in his Place; and delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table.

And the several Amendments were twice read; and, with the Addition of the Word "Father-in-Law," and "or," instead of "and," upon the Question, severally agreed.

The Clause for the Lessee to prove his Lives in being, was twice read; and laid aside.

The Bill being further debated;

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be re-committed to the former Committee, upon the present Debate.

Turnor's Petition.

A Petition of Sir William Turnor was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Petition be referred to the Committee of Elections and Privileges; to examine the Matter of the Petition; and report their Opinions therein to the House.

Marsh Lands.

Ordered, That the Committee to which the Bill for settling fresh and salt Marshes was committed, do sit this Afternoon, at Two of the Clock, notwithstanding their Adjournment.

Naturalization.

Ordered, That the Report of the Bill for Naturalization be made To-morrow Morning, the first Business.

Poor.

Ordered, That the Committee to which the Bill for the Corporation of the Poor is committed, be revived; and do sit this Afternoon at Two of the Clock, in the Place formerly appointed.

Navy Creditors.

Ordered, That these Members following be added to the Committee to which the Petition of the Creditors of the Navy is committed; viz. Sir Anth.
