A BILL to enable Francis Cottington and Charles Cottington to settle and dispose of Lands in Jointure to any Wife or Wives they shall take in Marriage, was this Day read the Second time.

That this Bill be committed to the same Committee to which the former Bill on the Behalf of the Creditors, was committed: And they are to receive such Informations as shall be offered, touching the Matter in Question; and also Proposals for regulating the Company of Merchant Adventurers; and to peruse both Bills; and extract such a Bill out of them, as may be most equal for Satisfaction of the Creditors, and Advantage of the Fellowship and Trade of Merchant Adventurers.

Merchant Adventurers.

A Petition of the Governor, Wardens, and Assistants, of the Fellowship of the Merchant Adventurers of the Town of Newcastle upon Tyne, was read.

Ordered, That this Petition be referred to the same Committee to which the Two Bills, touching the Fellowship of Merchant Adventurers, and their Creditors, were committed; to take the same into Consideration; and report the Matter to the House.

Writs of Error.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Justinian Lewen and Sir Thomas Estcourt;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent you down a Bill, intituled, An Act for Preventing of Abatements of Writs of Error upon Judgments in the Exchequer: To which they desire the Concurrence of this House.

Church Lands.

A Bill for apportioning Rents, and preventing concurrent Leases of the Lands of Bishops, and other Ecclesiastical Persons, was read.

Ordered, That this Bill be read the Second time on Thursday next.

Dissenters.

That a Bill be brought in, to supply the Defects in the former Laws; and to prevent the Meetings and Designs of Sectaries, and Dissenters from the Church: And it is referred to Serjeant Charleton, Lord Fanshaw, Sir John Duncombe, Mr. Crouch, Sir Tho. Strickland, Sir Tho. Meres, Mr. Churchill, Sir Wm. Lowther, Sir Edm. Pooley, Mr. Heath, Sir John Birkenhead, Mr. Vaughan, Sir Courtney Poole, or any Two of them, to prepare the said Bill: And it is recommended to the especial Care of Sir Job Charleton, for the expediting and bringing in the Bill.
