Prayers.

Privilege.

UPON Information given on the Behalf of Marke Mason, who was taken into the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, for arresting of Roger Barket, the menial Servant of William Griffith Esquire, a Member of this House, That the said Mason did not know him to be so, when he arrested him; but was employed by one John Terry, Haberdasher;

And the said Mason having submitted himself; and Mr. Griffith being satisfied, and consenting that he be discharged;

Ordered, That the said Marke Mason be discharged from the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms paying his Fees.

Upon Information, That John Terry Haberdasher, did employ Mark Mason to arrest Roger Barket, the menial Servant of Mr. Griffith, a Member of this House; and was present, when it was done; and, after the said Barket did shew his Protection, and Mason would have discharged him, the said Terry bid him do it at his Peril; and threatened to make him pay the Debt if he did;

Ordered, That the said John Terry be sent for in the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, for his Breach of Privilege in causing Roger Barket, the menial Servant Mr. Griffith, a Member of this House, to be arrested and detained.

Loyalist Officers.

Ordered, That the Committee appointed to review and peruse the Act concerning the indigent loyal Officers, be revived; and do sit on Tuesday next in the Afternoon: And Colonel Arundell and Colonel Trelawney are added to the Committee.

Preventing Popory, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee to which the Bill to prevent the Growth of Popery is re-committed, be revived; and do sit To-morrow in the Afternoon: And that the Committee concerning the King's Revenue, and all other Committees, do forbear to sit then.

Mersey, &c. Navigation.

Sir John Birkinhead reports from the Committee to which the Bill for making navigable the Two Rivers of Mersey and Weaver was committed, several Amendments to the said Bill: And the same being twice read; and, with the Addition of the Name of Sir Henry Brooke, instead of William Lestwych, upon the Question, severally agreed to;

Resolved, &c. That the Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, be ingrossed.

Marq. of Worcester's Water Engine.

A Bill to enable Edward Marquis of Worcester to receive the Benefit of a Water Engine, by him invented, was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time To-morrow Morning.

Marq. of Winchester's Award.

A Bill to confirm an Award made by his Majesty, for composing the Differences between John Lord Marquis of Winchester, and Charles Lord St. John, was this Day read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be committed to Lord Herbert, Sir John Norton, Lord Bruce, Mr. Hide, Sir Hum. Bennet, Sir Wm. Lewis, Sir Hum. Winch, Colonel Windham, Sir Solomon Swale, Sir Bain. Throckmorton, Colonel Kirkby, Sir John Marley, Sir Robert Atkins, Sir John Dawney, Mr. Greenvile, Sir Rich. Mauleverer, Sir John Brampston, Mr. Knight, Sir Wm. Compton, Colonel Reames, Sir Robert Howard, Sir John Trot, Mr. Phillips, Sir Tho. Tompkins, Sir Lanc. Lake, Lord Fanshaw, Sir Edm. Peirce, Colonel Fretchvile, Sir Nich. Steward, Mr. Harvey, Sir Rich. Admiralty Jurisdiction.

A Bill for settling the Jurisdiction of the Admiralty, was this Day read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read again the Second time, on this Day Sevennight.

Militia.

Sir Thomas Meres reports from the Committee appointed to peruse the Act concerning the Militia, with other Acts, That the Committee had taken a great Care and Pains in perusing the Act of the Militia; and had heard the several Objections which had been made against the Bill (which he did open to the House; and had thereupon considered the Defects therein: And, for Supply thereof, and the better settling the Militia, had, according to the Power given them, prepared a new additional Bill: Which he delivered in at the Clerk's Table.

The additional Act for the better ordering the Forces in the several Counties of this Kingdom, was read the First time.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read the Second time on Thursday next.

Amendment to Bills.

Ordered, That the Reporter, who does report the Amendments to any Bill, do, after the same are agreed by the House, see that the same be duly entered in the Bill, that the Bill may be rightly ingrossed.

Guest's Charities.

An ingrossed Bill for settling the charitable Use of John Guest, was this Day read the Third time.

Resolved, &c. That the said Bill do pass: And that the Title shall be, An Act for settling the charitable Gift of John Guest.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
