Navigable Rivers.

AN ingrossed Bill, sent from the Lords, to make Rivers navigable, was this Day read the Second time.

Resolved, That the said Bill be committed to Lord Angier, Sir Francis Goodrick, Sir Tho. Allen, Mr. Vaughan, Sir Cha. Harbord, Colonel Reames, Mr. Fane, Serjeant Charlton, Sir Allen Brodrick, Sir Rich. Browne, Sir Hen. North, Mr. Westphaling, Sir Robert Holt, Dr. Birkinhead, Sir Geo. How, Mr. Knight, Sir Edw. Massey, Sir Hen. Newton, Sir Edm. Pye, Mr. Coventry, Sir Anth. Irby, Sir Roger Bradshaigh, Sir John Talbot, Mr. Attorney of the Duchy, Sir Robert Brooke, Mr. Oakeley, Sir James Smith, Mr. Elliot, Mr. Price, Sir John Duncomb, Sir Tho. Call of the House.

Ordered, That all the Members of this House do personally attend the Service of the House on this Day Fortnight, being the Fifth of May (at which time the House is to be Called over), upon the Penalty of Twenty Pounds, to be paid by every Member that shall make Default: And that this Order be forthwith printed and published, that such as are concerned may take Notice of it.

Sheriffs Accounts.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Lords; to desire them, That they would call upon, and expedite, the Bill for preventing the unnecessary Charge of Sheriffs; and for Ease in passing their Accounts.

And Sir John Duncombe is to attend the Lords with this Message.

Flax and Hemp.

Ordered, That the Bill for planting of Flax and Hemp, be read To-morrow Morning.

Navy and Ordnance Carriages.

Ordered, That the Bill for providing Carriages by Land and Water for his Majesty, be read To-morrow Morning, the Second time.

Uniformity of Worship.

The House did then proceed upon the rest of the Amendments to the Bill of Uniformity: And, in the First Place, on that Part of the Paragraph brought in by the Committee, which concerns Schoolmasters, appointed for that Purpose;

Resolved, upon the Question, That all the Words, after the Word "aforesaid," in the Seventeenth Line of the Third Page of the said Amendment, to the Word "and" in the One-and-twentieth Line of the same Page, be left out: And that these Words, "shall, for the First Offence, suffer Three Months Imprisonment, without Bail or Mainprize; and, for every Second Offence, shall suffer Three Months Imprisonment, without Bail or Mainprize; and also forfeit to his Majesty the Sum of Five Pounds," be inserted in the said Paragraph, instead of the said Words to be omitted.

Resolved, That after the Word "Realm," in the Fourteenth Line of the same Page, these Words, "for which he shall pay Twelve-pence only," be inserted.

The Question being put, That the Words, "for the Fee of Two Shillings and Six-pence," in the Twentyseventh Line of the Third Page of the said Amendment, brought in by the Committee, be omitted; and that the Certificate for every Parson, Vicar, Curate, and Lecturer, shall be without Fee;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Resolved, That the said Paragraph, so amended, be agreed to.

The Third Amendment, brought in by the Committee, being twice read, was, upon the Question, agreed unto.

The Fourth Amendment, by them brought in, being also twice read, was, upon the Question, agreed unto.

A Proviso, in relation to the Covenant for Twenty Years, this Day brought in by the said Committee, was twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed to.

Resolved, That these Words, "now is incumbent, and in Possession of any Parsonage, Vicarage, or Benefice, and," be inserted after the Words "Person who," in the Fifty-third Line of the First Parchment Addition, sent from the Lords.

Resolved, That these Words, "the said," be inserted, instead of the Word "any," after the Word "enjoy," in the Fifty-seventh Line of the said First Parchment Addition, sent from the Lords.

The Question being put, Whether the Words, "according to the Form of the Church of England," be inserted after the Word "Ordination," in the Fifty-seventh Line of said First Addition in Parchment, sent from the Lords;

It passed in the Negative.

Resolved, That these Words, "thenceforth be capable to be admitted to any Parsonage, Vicarage, Benefice, or any Ecclesiastical Promotion or Dignity; nor shall any Person," be inserted after the Word "shall," in the Sixtythird Line of the said First Addition in Parchment, sent from the Lords: And that the Words "or do" be omitted.

A person to attend.

Ordered, That George Speak Esquire, High Sheriff of the County of Somersett, have Leave to come up to attend the Committee to whom the Bill for impowering Sir Courtney Poole, and others, to make Payment of the Portion of Ellen Brisco Widow, by Sale or granting of Estates, out of the Manor of Lymington, was committed, according to their Summons, to offer what he hath to object against the Passing of the said Bill.
