Prayers.

The King attended.

MR. Speaker took the Chair; and adjourned the House till Ten of the Clock.

And then Mr. Speaker, with the House, went to attend his Majesty at Whitehall.

The King's Speech.

Mr. Speaker returned with the Members of the House, about Ten of the Clock: And, having taking the Chair, reports from his Majesty, * * * *.

Thanks for Speech.

Resolved, That the humble and hearty Thanks of this House be returned to his Majesty, for his gracious Speech this Day, and his great Expressions of Kindness therein to this House: And Mr. Treasurer, Lord Bruce, Mr. Ashburnham, Mr. Comptroller, Mr. Cofferer, Mr. Secretary Morrice, Mr. Oneale, Mr. Vice Chamberlain, and Colonel Legg, are desired to attend his Majesty, and return unto him the Thanks of this House.

Revenue, &c.

Resolved, That the Matters of the King's Majesty's Revenue, the Militia and Highways, be first taken into Consideration, and in order proceeded in: And that no other Business shall intervene, till these be finished.

Hearth Tax.

Ordered, That a Bill be brought in, for laying an Imposition upon Chimney Hearths, towards the Supply of his Majesty's Revenue.

A Bill for laying an Imposition upon Chimney Hearths, towards the Supply of his Majesty's Revenue, was this Day read the First time.

Ordered, That this Bill be read the Second time on Monday next.

Militia.

The Question being put, To proceed in the Bill for the Militia;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

And the House then resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to proceed in the further Debate of the said Bill.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Mr. Solicitor General took the Chair of the Committee.
And Mr. Speaker again took the Chair.

Lords desire a Conference.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir William Child and Sir Toby Woolrich;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords do desire a present free Conference with this House, in the Painted Chamber, concerning the former Conference upon the Bill of Quakers.

Resolved, That this House doth agree to the said Conference.

And the Messengers being again called in;

Mr. Speaker acquainted them, That this House had considered of their Message; and had agreed to the said free Conference.

And the House then going up to attend the said free Conference;

Mr. Solicitor reported from the said free Conference, That the Lord Chancellor managed the said free Conference; and had acquainted them, that the Lords had agreed with this House in all Particulars, saving in this Amendment; viz. that, in the First Skin, Twentieth Line, after the Word "present," they desire these Words might be put in, "who maintain, that the Taking of an Oath, in any Case whatsoever, although before a lawful Magistrate, is altogether unlawful, and contrary to the Word of God."

Resolved, That this House doth agree to the said new Amendment.

And That new Amendment, and all the former Amendments agreed unto, being read the Third time;

Resolved, That the said Bill be amended accordingly.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Trelawney have the Leave of this House to go into the Country.

Committee of Privileges.

Ordered, That Mr. Milward deliver his Papers, which concerned his Reports from the Committee of Privileges and Elections, to Sir Thomas Gowre, that he may report the same to this House.

Order of Proceedings of the House.

Ordered, That this House do daily, at Nine of the Clock, positively, forbear to proceed in any Business whatsoever, wherein the House shall be then engaged; and do then resume the Matter of the Revenue, Militia, and Highways, in their Order.

Ministers Maintenance.

Ordered, That the Bill for Maintenance of Ministers, be read on Monday Morning.

Committees.

Ordered, That all publick Committees, which were discontinued, by the House's not sitting on Monday last, be revived; and sit this Afternoon.

Committee of Privileges.

Ordered, That the Committee of Privileges and Elections do forbear to sit for Three Weeks to come.

Grand Committees.

Ordered, That the Grand Committee of Trade do sit on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; and the Grand Committee of Grievances on Thursdays; for Three Weeks to come.

Ordered, That the Grand Committee of Trade do bring in a Bill against Exportation of Wool, &c. on Tuesday.

Leave to attend Lords.

Ordered, That Mr. Churchill have the Leave of this House to give Testimony at the Lords Bar.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning at Eight of the Clock.
