Norwich Stuffs.

AN ingrossed Bill for erecting a Corporation, and regulating Frauds and Abuses in making of Norwich Stuffs, was this Day read the Third time.

A Petition on the Behalf of the Woolcombers in the County of Norfolke, and City of Norwich, and County of the same City, on the Behalf of themselves, and the Hosiers of the said Counties and City, was also read.

Some Amendments were made to the said Bill, at the Table; and, upon the Question, agreed to.

Resolved, That the said Bill, with the Amendments agreed to, do pass.

Resolved, That the Title of the said Bill shall be, An Act for regulating the Making of Stuffs in Norfolke and Norwich: And the Lord Richardson is to carry up the said Bill to the Lords for their Concurrence.

Dunston and King's Barton Hundreds.

Amendments, sent from the Lords, to the Bill for dividing the Two Hundreds of Dudston and Kings Barton from the County of the City, and restoring them to the Part of the County of Gloucester, were this Day twice read; and, upon the Question, agreed unto.

Resolved, That this House doth assent to the said Amendments: And that the Bill be amended accordingly; and returned to the Lords.

Dover Pier.

A Bill for the Repairing of Dover Harbour, was this Day read the Second time.

Resolved, That the said Bill be committed to Mr. Solicitor General, Mr. Ashburnham, Mr. Treasurer, Serjeant Charleton, Sir Phillip Warwick, Sir Wm. Lowther, Mr. Rigby, Sir Edmond Peirse, Mr. Wm. Coventry, Dr. Birkenhead, Sir Richard Breames, Mr. Wm. Sandys, Sir Wm. Compton, Mr. Jolly, Sir John Duncombe, Mr. Seymour, Sir Thomas Meeres, Mr. Churchill, Mr. Reames, Mr. Mountague, Mr. Coventry, Mr. Comptroller, Sir Robert Atkins, Sir Wm. Ordered, That Mr. Solicitor General, Sir Wm. Lowther, Serjeant Keeling, Sir Robert Atkins, Sir Anthony Irby, Sir John Duncombe, Sir Charles Harbord, Sir Thomas Meres, Serjeant Charleton, Sir Robert Howard, and Mr. Waller, do withdraw into the Speaker's Chamber; and prepare Reasons to be insisted upon at the Conference to be had with the Lords, upon the Bill against Quakers.

Mr. Solicitor reports the Reasons and Instructions, agreed upon at the Committee, to be insisted upon at the Conference to be had with the Lords, upon the Bill against Quakers.

Resolved, That this House doth agree to the said Reasons and Instructions: And Sir Robert Howard is to desire a Conference with the Lords, upon the Bill against Quakers.

And Sir Robert Howard made Report, That the Lords condescended to a Conference To-morrow, at Eleven of the Clock, in the Painted Chamber.

Message from the King - 10 p. Cent. Interest.

Mr. Secretary Morrice informs the House, That he had Direction from his Majesty, to desire this House, that they would put a Supersedeas to any further Debate upon the Bill for a Permission to such Persons as should advance Monies for Supply of his Majesty's present Occasions, to take Interest at Ten Pounds per Centum: That his Majesty finding the Bill might have some ungrateful Relish in it, resolved to put himself upon the greatest Streights, rather than adventure upon any Course that might in the least seem to disgust this House, or prejudice his good Subjects; and, therefore, would endeavour some other Means to supply his present urgent Occasions; and desired the Bill might be laid aside.

Resolved, upon the Question, That the humble Thanks of this House be returned to his Majesty for his gracious Message by Mr. Secretary Morrice: And that his Majesty be made acquainted, That this House will leave no Means unattempted, to advance his Majesty's Revenue, and supply his present urgent Occasions.

Confirming Ministers.

The House resumed the Debate upon the Amendments, sent from the Lords, to the Bill for confirming an Act concerning Ministers.

Ayloffe, do prepare Reasons and Instructions to be insisted on, at the Conference to be had with the Lords, upon the Amendments sent down to the Bill for confirming the Act concerning Ministers; with Two other Acts.

A Bill for imposing a Charge on sealed Paper and Parchment, was this Day read the First time.

An Addition was tendered to be added, and made Part of the said Bill.

Which being also once read;

Resolved, That the said Addition he added to, and made Part of the Bill: And that the Bill, with the said Addition, be read the Second time To-morrow Morning.

Excise Revenue.

Mr. Milward making a Report from the Committee appointed to receive Proposals for Advance of the Excise:

And Mr. Seymour making an additional Report thereunto;

Resolved, upon the Question, That the former Committee, appointed by the Order of the Eighteenth of January last, to take into Consideration such Reasons and Proposals as should be offered to them, for raising and improving the Duty of Excise at the Establishment it is now, do receive such Proposals as shall be offered by the several Members of this House, how the Excise, in the several Counties, by way of Farm, or otherwise, may be advanced to Four hundred thousand Pounds a Year: And that they do consider, how far the Powers for collecting thereof may be enlarged: And all the Members of this House, that shall come to the said Committee, are to have Voices thereat: And they are to sit de die in diem; and to expedite their Report, with all the Speed they can. The Question being put, For Leave to be given to bring in a Bill to make the Excise general upon all Beer and Ale;
