Privilege of a Member in a Suit.

THIS House being informed, that one William Bridgwater hath, in Michaelmas Term last, brought an Action in the King's Bench, against one John Hocking, and others, which he presses to Tryal by one George Richards, his Attorney; in and by which Suit the Title of Thomas Robinson Esquire, one of the Members of this House, will be drawn into Question, contrary to the Privilege of this House;

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do direct the Warrant of this House to the Lord Chancellor, to award a Writ of Supersedeas, to stay all further Proceedings in the said Action.

Hatfeild Level.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Gentlemen, Freeholders, and other Inhabitants of Egborough, Hecton, Hensall, Gowdall, Balne, Pollington, and other Towns, within the West Riding of the County of Yorke, be referred to the Committee to whom the Bill for Hatfield Chase is committed: Who are to take the same into present Consideration.

Dean Forest.

Ordered, That Sir Baynham Throgmorton, Sir Wm. Doyley, and Sir William Lowther, do attend my Lord Treasurer; and desire his Lordship, That he would be pleased to return his Report to this House, as soon as conveniently he can, upon the Order of the Thirteenth of July last, of Recommendation from this House to his Lordship, touching the Claim of Sir John Winter to the Forest of Dean; and concerning such Proposals as have been made for Increase of his Majesty's Revenue; and for Improvement of Timber and Wood in the said Forest.

Knollis's Estate.

A Bill to enable Mr. Thomas Knollis to sell Lands for Payment of the Debts of Sir Henry Knollis, was this Day read the First time.

Resolved, That this Bill be read the Second time on Saturday next.

A Bill for making Three Rivers navigable was this Day read the First time.

Ordered, That the Name of Susanne De Milleville, Daughter of Daniel De Millivelle Baron of Boessay, and of the Lady Katherine his Wife, of Boessa in the Kingdom of France, and Wife of Sir Samuell Morland Knight and Baronet, and one of the Gentlemen of his Majesty's Privy Chamber, be inserted into the Bill of Naturalizing.

A Bill for making it lawful for Persons that lend Monies to the King, to take Interest at Ten Pounds per Centum, was this Day read the First time.

Sheriffs Accounts.

An ingrossed Bill for preventing the unnecessary Charge of Sheriffs, and for the Ease in the Passing of their Accompts, was this Day read the Third time.

And some Amendments being, upon the Question, agreed to; and the Bill being accordingly amended, at the Clerk's Table.

A Proviso was tendered to be annexed, and made Part of the Bill: Which being twice read;

Resolved, That the same be made Part of the Bill.

Resolved, That the said Bill, with the said Amendments and Proviso agreed unto, do pass.

Resolved, That the Title of the said Bill shall be, An Act for preventing the unnecessary Charge of Sheriffs, and for Ease in passing their Accompts.

And Sir John Duncombe is to carry up the said Bill to the Lords.

London Streets, &c.

Ordered, That the Bill for Repairing and Maintaining the Highways and Streets, in the Cities of London and Westminster, and Parts adjacent, be read To-morrow Morning at Nine of the Clock: And that, at Ten of the Clock, the Business of the King's Revenue be taken into Consideration.

Clothiers Petition.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Clothiers of the County of Wilts be referred to the Consideration of the Grand Committee for Trade.

Militia.

And the House then resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to resume the Debate of the Bill for the Militia.

Mr. Solicitor General made Report, That the Committee had made some Progress in the said Bill; and desired, that this House would again resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, . . Saturday Morning, to resume the Debate of the said Bill.

Resolved, That this House will, on Saturday Morning, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to resume the said Debate, and to finish the said Bill.

Scudamore's Losses at Play.

Ordered, That the Committee to whom Mr. Scudamore's Bill was committed be revived; and do sit in the Place formerly appointed, on Saturday next, at Two of the Clock in the Afternoon.

Ordered, That Dr. Birkenhead and Sir Wm. Lewes be added to the Committee to whom the Complaint against Mr. Phillips, one of the Members of this House, is committed.

Ly. Wandesford's Estate.

Ordered, That Mr. Reames, Sir William Tredenham, Mr. Strickland, Mr. Mallett, be added to the Committee to whom the Lady Wandesford's Bill is committed.

Hebdon's, &c. Nat.

Ordered, That the Names of John, Richard, and Thomas Hebdon, Sons of John Hebdon, a natural Englishman, now Ambassador Resident from the Emperor of Russia, and Thomas Smith his Kinsman, be inserted into the Bill for Naturalization.
