PRAYERS .
Cripplegate Lecturer.
THE humble Petition of the Parishioners of St. Giles, Cripplegate, London, was read; and avowed by John Smyth and Pate Brackston:
And it is Ordered, That Timothy Hutton, and one Mr. Fletcher, be summoned to appear here To-morrow at Nine of Clock, to shew their Reason, why they do not admit Mr. Sedgwick to be a Lecturer there, according to a former Order of this House, of the 8th of September.
Ordered, That the House take into Consideration, on Thursday next, in what State the whole Business of the Money stands.
Clergy's Subsidies.
Ordered, That, on Monday next at Ten of Clock, the Bill of Subsidies for the Clergy shall be read.
Disbanding the Army.
A Letter from the Committees in Scotland, directed to Mr. Pym, of the Eighteenth of Oct. was this Day read: And likewise a Paper, that was by the Committees presented to the Parliament in Scotland, concerning the Disbanding their Army: And likewise a Proclamation of the Fourteenth of October.
Messenger's Expences.
Ordered, That Mr. Wheeler shall pay Twenty Pounds, towards the discharging of the Expences of the Messenger, that was sent to Edinborough on Friday last.
The Guards.
Mr. Wheeler, Sir Ro. Pye, Mr. Glyn, Mr. Bell, Sir Gilbert Gerrard, Sir John Hippisley, and Sir John Francklyn, are to consider what Monies are fit to be issued, for a convenient Place for the Guards of Mid. and Westminster to stand dry in, and for Powder and Bullet for them, and for the Furnishing them therewith.
Sir J. Barkeley.
Ordered, That the Constable of the Tower, or the Lieutenant, or Deputy Lieutenant, of the same, do bring in safe Custody Sir John Barkeley Knight, before the Committee, this Afternoon at Two of the Clock.
And it is further Ordered, That the said Sir John Barkeley may be examined by the Lords, if they desire it, touching some Speeches against the Earl of Northumberland.
Goodman, a Priest.
A Letter from Mr. John Goodman a Priest, now a Prisoner in Newgate, of the Two-and-twentieth of October, directed to Mr. Speaker; and a Petition from him, inclosed; was likewise read: And the House will first inform themselves, what his Majesty's Answer was, touching that Business, before they resolve any thing upon it.
Merchants, &c. Petition.
The humble Petition of divers Merchants trading to Holland, Flanders, and other Places, whose Names are subscribed; and of Tho. White Master of the Packet-boat....: And Mr. Alderman Penington and Mr. Spurstow are desired to speak with Mr. Witherings the Postmaster about it; and to accommodate the Business with him, if they can; or otherwise, to report his Answer to the House.
Proceedings against Judge Berkeley.
Mr. Hide is to go to the Lords, with this Message;
To take notice of their Lordships Message, sent on Saturday last, touching their Lordships Intention to proceed against Judge Barkley on Tuesday come Seven-night; and to know of their Lordships, what Proceedings they have made in that Business, since the Charge went up, that this House may provide themselves accordingly.
Protections.
Ordered, That the Report concerning the Protections shall be made To-morrow Morning.
Londonderry.
Ordered, That Mr. Whistler, Mr. Glyn, and Mr. White, shall take a Review of the Votes concerning Londonderry; and prepare that Business to be transmitted to the Lords.
Members Proceedings in Parliament.
Ordered, That on Friday at Ten of Clock, the House shall be resolved into a Committee, to consider of the Bill for the Members of the House better discharging of their Consciences.
Charge against Abp. of Canterbury.
That the Committee for the Lord of Cant' shall proceed with all convenient Speed, in preparing and bringing in the Proofs of the Charge against him.
Troopers Complaints.
Resolved, upon the Question, That this House holds it fit, that the Order made by the Lord General, concerning the Horses of the Troops, be confirmed.
Resolved, upon the Question, That the Order of the Lord General, concerning the Troopers being at the Charge of the Powder and Shot used at the Time of their Exercise, be confirmed.
Mr. Pym, Mr. Martyn, Sir Jo. Hotham, Sir Hugh Cholmley, Mr. Sutton, Sir Wm. Lewes, Capt. Rainesbrough, Sir Wm. Pennyman;
This Committee is presently to take into Consideration such of the particular Complaints of the Troops as they shall think fit, concerning the Captains detaining the Conduct-money, pretended to be due unto the Soldiers; and to present the same, and such other Matter, to the House, as they shall think fit.
Conference.
Ordered, That a Conference be desired with the Lords, concerning Letters lately received from the Committee in Scotland; and Letters lately sent unto them; and concerning some Complaints of the Troops.
Sir Wm. Lewes is to go up with this Message to the Lords; and Mr. Pym to manage the Conference.
Ordered, That another Head of this Conference shall be, to desire the Lords to confirm the Order of both the Committees during the Recess, concerning the Soldiers to depart the Town.
Innovations in the Church.
Ordered, That, on Wednesday come Sevennight, the House do take into Consideration the Breach of the Order of this House, made 9° Sept. 1641, concerning Innovations.
Account of Poll-money.
Ordered, That the Citizens and Burgesses that serve for the City of London, do present unto this House, from the Treasurers and Commissioners for Poll-money, a true Account of the State of the Money in their Hands.
Time of Meeting, &c.
Ordered, That the House do meet every Morning at Ten a Clock, and continue sitting till Three a Clock, notwithstanding the former Order.
State of the Kingdom.
Ordered, That the Declaration, concerning the State of the Kingdom, be presented to the House on Friday next.
Call of the House.
Ordered, That the House be called on Friday come Sevennight: And that such Members as are then absent shall undergo such Fine, and further Displeasure of the House, as shall be imposed upon them for their Neglect.
Conference.
Sir Wm. Lewes brings Answer, that the Lords will give a present Meeting, in the Painted Chamber.
The Plague.
Ordered, That the Justices of Peace for the Cities of London and Westminster, and County of Mid. be desired, from this House, to see the Ordinance, made by both Houses, touching Houses infected with the Plague, be strictly put in Execution.
